For the Price (WORKS) and Filter Part Availability, A +++++
Needed something to suck fumes when soldering charging ports on Apple and Android devices out of the way and filter those fumes, this does the job. For the price, what do most people expect? It does the job, creates a safer work environment. No smell, small and portable. I even tested device by burning a piece of paper indoors and sucking the fumes with this extraction device ... no smell as you would normally expect from burning a piece of paper indoors. Position this device so that it can do its job and you will not have issues and be satisfied with the results...works and great price. Others that buy this and are not satisfied are just expecting too much for the price, not living or based in reality. Not sure what else they could expect, it does the job as advertised! I am even thinking about adding an external hose that goes outside through a window, very possible, but works without the hose, filters do the job!

surprisingly effective.
First thing I noticed... this thing is very quiet, yet still seems to pull the fumes away fairly well. Fumes within 6" or so get sucked right away and just disappear. Up to 12" away, most of it gets sucked in. But beyond that, warmed solder fumes tend to float up and away. Therefore, its position is important and the portability of it makes it easy to reposition. If you use standard solder spools, this thing comes with a very nifty spool holder/dispenser built into the base, though evidently this product is also used in nail salons to reduce fingernail dust, in which case they probably wonder what the heck that spool thingy is for. There are two colored lights (LED's) that remind you which side is "input" and which is "output". Cute.A recent article has indicated that the recent lead-free solders create fumes that are actually more toxic than those from lead-based solders, so if you solder, you want to have something like this. This unit won't clean up a large amount of air in a big area like a good HEPA unit (e.g., Hunter, etc.), but for localized fume sources you can't beat the performance/price of this gem. This is another product that continues to draw a tiny amount of "phantom" power (maybe less than a watt) even with the switch "off", via the AC adapter. I prefer devices that are really "off" when you turn them off, but that's pretty rare these days.

Not worth it
Barely draws fumes away without being in the way. The hakko bench top fume extractor unit is much more effective and cheaper.

Works for hobby soldering but a little flimsy
Construction is mostly plastic and feels a little flimsy. However, it does keep the solder fumes away from one's face without getting in the way.

This thing really sucks (in a good way)
If you have ever started the search for a solder fume extractor, then you know the pitfalls. You find one that sucks the fumes but is so LOUD you can't carry on a conversation or listen to the radio or music or anything while you are using it. I was at my wit's end. I do a LOT of soldering and so we started looking into the big units that you need to vent outside. We figured if the fan was all the way at the wall, it would be quieter. THEN I saw this little guy and one of the reviews talked about how effective it way. We figured for the price, it was worth a shot.I solder parts onto circuit boards and this little guy is working really well. It is SO QUIET that I do not have to turn it off to talk to someone or adjust the volume to listen to the radio or music. Even the little light is effective. The base is heavy enough (if you put your solder there) to stay put, but light enough to easily move with one hand while you are working. I have found that you need to keep it close to the work for it to suck the fumes through the front, otherwise, fumes that are floating up simply get blown around by the fan coming out the back. But that is not a problem since it is so small.I am very pleased with this.

Works great
Been using this for about a week. I do a lot of soldering and it's a lot quieter than I'd expected and pulls in smoke from a good distance, so I'm really happy with it so far.

Does not work, it just creates turbulence in the air.
I had high hopes for this fume extractor, but it just doesn't work. When I start using it, I see the fumes scatter in all directions. I also noticed that if I remove the rotating filter, it works better, but no filter means that the fumes stay in my work area.
