It says in the suitability section in the description that they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans yet they contain Shellac and Beeswax?

My niece is vegetarian, so I read every ingredient on sweets/treats that I buy. At Christmas I got most of the kids these for their stocking, but I ordered vegan 'sours' for her instead. I definitely would not give these to a vegan or vegetarian because of the gelatine and cochineal. I think she is okay with honey and beeswax as they are a bi product and not an actual bee! I believe shellac is also a bi product and not an actual insect.I agree with you that they are not suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Maybe contact the manufacturer?

Why is it labelled as vegetarian when it has shellac in the ingredients? Shellac is crushed beetles.

You are thinking of E120 or cochineal, Shellac is a resin secreted and left by the female lac bug on trees. The bug itself doesn't get killed and/or eaten, hence why it is veggie but not vegan. 🙃
