Very happy I finally got one!
I owed it to my 8yr old self, I always wanted one of these. Super cool and fun to stare at! Came with power adapter, no batteries needed. Lightweight, seems delicate so do not drop! Size is just perfect! 10/10

Didn’t work/ update: replacement works!
We got this for a science project. It arrived and we plugged it in. It came on then shut off. Never worked again . We’re sending it back for a replacement, so I hope the next one works!Update: was quickly shipped another one and it works great!!

Looks cool but kinda flimsy for the price.
My husband ordered a couple of these for our grandchildren. They’ll love them as they do look really nice in the dark. The only noise I could get it to respond to was a louder, higher pitched vocalizing but I haven’t tried it with music yet. I clapped, talked and finally yelled which made it simply go out then right back on as I stopped. It does some fun stuff when touch by fingertips or when placing a palm directly to it. As I said, my husband ordered them; I’d not have spent $30+ on one and don’t think it’s quite worth the cost. There’s no substantial weight so I can see it being knocked from the table easily. It may survive a fall to the carpet but hard flooring would most likely be the death of it.

works like a champ and nice colors
UPDATE: I bought this in September of 2021. It's now December of 2021 and its stopped working today. I'm seeing a lot of other reviews with this kind of experience. I suppose if you need a plasma globe to work for a month, this might be the right one for you, but if you need it to last for a while, it's probably not.For what it's worth, I checked the output from the AC adapter and it was 11.7 volts and I've not touched the switch since installation, but moving it to OFF, ON, or AUDIO changes nothing. And, as others have mentioned, the return period is long over and I see no information about a warranty, so lesson learned, I suppose. :(ORIGINAL REVIEW:Over the last few weeks, I've drawn to a close a 4.5-year-long procrastination phase and am cleaning/organizing my home office. One of the outcomes of this new phase is that I'm finding opportunities to (re-)add fun things to my office, like my old dusty Lava Lamp. When I found a place for that (and replaced its dead light bulb), I realized that I've wanted a plasma ball for a long time and never believed I had a place for it in my cluttered office of old.Well, it's a new day in Andy's office and since I now have a space for a plasma ball, let's do it!This one seemed like a good color and had good reviews (although I'm a little bit worried about it $#!^^ing out on me), so I bought it. It arrived today (a few days later) and I was pleased with the air padding, but as I pulled up the padding, the ball dropped into the bottom of the box. Nothing appeard to be harmed, but it seemed like a dumb arrangement.Anyway, I plugged it in and got really nice purple plasma tendrils hitting the globe and turning green. Touching the globe did what it's supposed to do (brought many of the tendrils toward my finger(s), and I didn't feel any shocking/tingling/buzzing or anything else that would have told me that something is wrong.I plugged it into a smart power strip so that it and my Lava Lamp come on a little bit before I start work and then turn off when I stop.I'm pleased and hoping that it lives a nice long life, but hey, at [whatever relatively small price I paid for this], even if it dies in a year or two, I'll likely buy another one since I find it to be a lot of fun.

Love it
It is exactly what I wanted, perfect size, and very pretty. I have owned a few over the years, and yes they can be fragile, but well worth the money. Lost a couple to moves, and lost a couple to dropping them, but I LOVE my plasma lights and enjoy others and me entertained by them. Children are fascinated and are drawn to things other than their phones when it is unique

Wrong pictures, small
I bought this because I could get it delivered overnight and wanted to have it for a kid's class on charge the next day. The globe is 5.75", which isn't anywhere near 8", but I now see that almost all plasma balls are not advertised by globe size, and none of the seller images had dimensions. An adult can put both hands around the ball without fingers touching, so it's definitely a usable size for observing across a classroom, or for 2-3 people to actively use.The pictures the seller does have are wrong, though. The ball I received has the terminal on the bottom of the globe, so plasma crawls up the side of the globe, and doesn't come from a center terminal as shown in the images. While I'm disappointed at the deceptive listing, the effect isn't bad, and the ball does light up reasonably well with the tendrils coming up the sides. The phosphorescent coating does make the globe more exciting in the dark. It's a dusty appearance in the light, but the entire globe glows in the dark, and with the plasma arcs crawling over the sides of the globe the effect is pretty good. The audio mode is largely useless. If there's a strong beat then it turns off briefly on the beat. Clapping can activate this. It doesn't react to the music in any other way - just full on and off. For a cheap globe you can't really expect a variable power supply, but the audio mode is little more than a gimmick to compete with other globes as an expected feature. Useless.Packaging was underwhelming. The globe was bubble wrapped and placed in its box without further protection, and Amazon delivered without putting it in another box. It arrived safely, and, probably due to the lightness of the entire model, it wasn't damaged, but this isn't something I'd expect to survive typical shipping operations, and if you need to travel with it you'll want to consider additional protection.
