I've loved this slim volume since receiving it as a father's day gift about 1999. Its much more fun than an ordinary cookbook; an attempt to bring 50's receipes into the 90's. The dishes themselves as well as their names and even the illustrations are kitschy fun. Examples inlcude Spo-Dee-O-Dee Chips, Moon Glow Apricot Iced Tea, and Back Shack Blueberry Corn Bread. Every dish I've made has turned out great, but that's almost an afterthought. This book is funny and sentimental. It celebrates an era while poking fun at its button-down demeanor and pop culture.

I expected otherwise, I did not like this book

A fun little book. Takes you right back to "the day". Loaded with recipes and every page a blast from the past. I bought three of these for gifts - for the MCM crowd. (mid-century modern)

Love the whole retro juju of this, which I gave to my husband as a birthday gift. We just haven't used it. Summer's around the corner, so hopefully this year. The recipes truly have been updated,

This is a really fun cookbook. The retro graphics and cute recipe names are very entertaining and the recipes are actually quite good.
