Il burbero di buon cuore, opera by Vicente Martin y Soler (Teatro Real Madrid 2007) [2004]

After 40 odd years following opera I finally discover Soler. A contemporary of Mozart although older. Mozart it appears borrowed from him and in this opera added to albeit for a revival. This is a fun, domestic opera, written by Ponte who also wrote for Mozart. The setting has been contemporised and it works. The cast are all very good and the music is ably played and conducted. So what is there to criticise except to say where is the rest of his repertoire. Come on Dynamic-more please
