Wow! Just wow!
This is by far, my best ever radio book purchase! And I have them ALL. It is even better than the seminal Sideli book "Classic Plastic Radios" which had been my favorite for years and years. The Philip Collins books are great, too. But this book, which somehow eluded my sight for 5 years, is just unbelievable. First, the pages are of a very heavy weight. That's true quality. And the pictures? Well, they are absolutely astonishing. High resolution, bright, true colors and did I mention the very thick, high quality paper used, too? The preceding all the beautiful photos is also incredibly informative. This is the best book on catalin radios EVER! if you are into catalin, bakelite or Art Deco styled radios, you MUST BUY this book. WOW!!

THE Definitive book on Plastic Tube Radios
After viewing a lecture on line, this book became a must have. The pictures are visually stunning. They alone make this book a must have for Art Deco fans. Add to that an authority who is able to present things in a logical and interesting fashion. Every read of this is filled with a childlike fascination for visual beauty, and immersion in a world I love. If you are an Art Deco lover (as I am), this book is a must have and worth every penny.

Seems like little effort was made to include these sets
This is a big leap forward from earlier books on Deco radios. But, one should be very aware of where the author is based. That, and the fact that the majority of these radios are European or Australian. Very very little on USA deco radios. Some smattering of catalin radios, but so what, we all know those. Nothing on wooden American radios. Stromberg Carlson, for example, made over a dozen really killer designs. Not one here. The one Stromberg radio shown is in error. Seems like little effort was made to include these sets. Why? Enough is known about them to include them. This is one guys idea of deco radio, a very very slim slice. Nicely done, indeed, but not at all comprehensive. This gap needs to be filled.

stunning book!
This is a stunning book….the design of the book is worthy of the amazing radios it displays. The story of how famous industrial designers contributed to the streamlined design of the mantel radio is a revelation and a worthy and welcome addition to the literature of radio, art deco and industrial design. But the gallery of 350 radios are beautifully photographed and comprehensively displayed by decade showing both collector and the public the glorious styles and colours that were so revolutionary in the 1930s and 1940s and seem so modern today. This is the ultimate reference book for art deco radios as well as a glorious coffee table book.Highly recommended.

For Collectors, The Radio Book You Must Have
Detailed commentary and exquisite photos make this a must have book for anyone collecting radios of the Deco period. You won't find a better book anywhere. This takes the Phil Collins book several levels higher with regard to photography and the quality of the pubication but it is worth every cent. It sets a new standard in the documentation of early radio history.

The book is informative, but all radio photos are ...
The book is informative, but all radio photos are placed on a black back round. That often makes the dark colors of the radio displayed hard to see.
