I was genuinely excited to try these AKG gummies. Alpha-ketoglutaric acid (AKG) has some promising research behind it—animal studies suggest it may support longevity, improve mitochondrial function, and even enhance bone and immune health. It's an integral part of the Krebs cycle, making it essential for energy metabolism. While human studies are still catching up, the science is intriguing enough to give it a shot.The good: 1000mg of AKG per serving is a generous dose, and the gummy form is convenient and pleasant-tasting—much easier than swallowing capsules. It’s vegan too, which I appreciate.The not-so-good: They ruined it with sorbitol and xylitol—two sugar alcohols with questionable health profiles. Not only do these ingredients pose potential digestive, cardiac (blood clots), and metabolic concerns, but they also feel like a contradiction in an otherwise wellness-focused product. To add insult to injury, the way they’re listed—right alongside the AKG amount—makes it look like they’re a “featured” ingredient, part of the therapeutic benefits. That’s misleading, and it honestly annoyed me.Until they reformulate without the sugar alcohols, I won’t be getting these again. The only reason I'll take these is because I'm very healthy and I'm not concerned for short term—2 months. A solid concept derailed by unnecessary additives. Dear manufacturer: science can be sweet without sorbitol and xylitol!
