John D. MacDonald: Five Complete Travis McGee Novels Hardcover – February 10, 1991

Book arrived on time and in great condition.Was thrilled to find such a large collection of John MacDonald books.Will definitely be ordering more

This is apparently an unread book that sat in someones library for 30 years.Paper shows a good deal of oxidation at the edge, but is on good shape otherwise.

I know Travis McGee. Well, I knew him. I read all of these novels some 25 years ago and thought this 5 novel collection would give me a chance to revisit the multi-talented, leather-skinned beach bum and experience him through an older lens. Exquisite. I have enjoyed every turn of phrase, wry observation and can taste the Boodles on ice. The stories, the dialogue and the characters are even more real and more entertaining. I am halfway through the last one and am planning to visit an old bookstore tomorrow to gather a few more and spend a little more time with Travis on the Busted Flush in Lauderdale.

Print terribly small and lines close together. Hard to read.

John MacDonald has created a wonderful character in Travis McGee. McGee helps people he feels like helping. He's all things you want in your hero, handsome, well built, trust worthy, and most importantly, interested in people. He lives in south Florida aboard a houseboat he won in a poker game. As a south Florida resident I particularly enjoy the references I'm familiar with. Unlike most hero's, McGee doesn't sleep with any woman that makes herself available, and many do. He believes there has to be a connection on an emotional level to make the physical worthwhile.Good adventure, good commentary on life. A very enjoyable read.

Two down & three to go: a captivating compilation from my now FAVORITE author of Travis McGee novels ...

I purchased these books as a gift. The recipient was very pleased with the condition of the books, and they arrived even earlier than expected - great value!

Fun read. Local store that sells used paper backs....says: Books on Florida get bought and go out....But,no one brings them back. Travis McGee is and earlier version of Jack Reacher - set in Florida. Sharedthis compendium with a friend and they responded by giving me 3 books that they had read and had on the shelf.

Disappointed with the delivery time.

Great compendium at a very good price. What I liked was that the 5 novels were sequential. I had read all before but never in the order in which they were published. I suspect I have read nearly every J D MacDonald that was ever written and never get tired of them.

The book was grubby and older looking than I expected. Poorer quality than the description suggested.
