This tutorial to include a multitude of invaluable accompanying pictures offered in simple layman's terms all the necessary equipment, steps and material that would be needed for the DIY home building enthusiast. Black and Decker DIY Roofing by Editors of Cool Springs Press provides detailed instructions and photos on how to repair and replace your roof. I like that the instructions are explained in layman’s terms with helpful photos. The materials and tools needed are also listed. The various types of roofs are discussed (metal, asphalt, cedar shakes, concrete tile) along with different types of repairs. There is a chapter on working safely as well. I found this book very helpful. It allowed me to tackle a repair on my roof. It is a nice addition to my DIY library.

This book is way to basic. Yes it has pictures and general instructions for basic roofing practices but I found it misses a lot of major details. Only provides the simple “how” and does not answer the “why?”

This book is a must have for any handy man from beginner to expert!
