Telesonic Silver Quartz Wall Clock Quiet Sweep 13 Inch

When I lifted this clock from its box, I was incredibly disappointed by how light and cheap it felt. If you look at the back of it, you immediately realize that this is a white plastic shell painted like brushed stee. The quartz movement box takes one AA battery, and it's not even covered. And yet . . . this clock is exactly what I wanted: a quiet, easy-to-read, nice-looking clock to hang in my bathroom.The real question is whether this clock is worth the $35 I paid for it. It replaces a cheaper and similar-looking clock that I bought at Target. I could hear the Target clock across the houses as it ground and ticked through the seconds and minutes. This clock is completely silent. The second hand sweeps instead of jerks, something I like but which my husband does not. But $35? That strikes me as a lot for a cheap plastic shell and a quartz movement.My husband and I settled on this clock because it promised silence and because it looked nice. My wife and I are in a different house than the one for which the last master bathroom clock was purchased. I *really* like the existing clock, but our new house is both exceptionally quiet and the floorplan has a more direct auditory path to the master bedroom from the master bath.The clock I was replacing is silver...silver dial, silver hands, silver numbers, silver border, using different textures to make various items stand out, but man...the ticking some nights seemed incredibly loud. Then, we were being touristy in Florida, and a battery-powered wall clock with a sweep second hand caught my attention. Cool! They exist!Honestly, I'd never considered it. I thought sweep second hand clocks had to be AC-powered.Amazon to the rescue. This one is the right color (silver), does *NOT* look cheap, and is rather quiet. I can hear it a little bit, but only if I'm within three feet, with no other noise in the house. It's like a 'tick' but more of a rattling sound over the course of a second. If you look closely, you can see the second hand varies in its speed over the course of a second, but these aren't negatives, just how it works.If you want a nice-looking, light-faced, quiet, battery-powered wall clock, this deserves a very close look.FWIW, the clock which had me considering this was priced @ $90. Um...yeah.

I purchased this clock to replace a clock that had a very distinct "clicking/ticking" sound every time the sweep second hand moved. I was amazed when I put the battery into this clock for the first time. ABSOLUTE SILENCE! And the sweep second hand moved SMOOTHLY, rather than the stop/start way the previous sweep second hand moved. As an added bonus it looks clean, modern, and is the perfect size for my wall -- all at a reasonable price. An absolute winner any way you look at it.I have to admit I was surprised when I began looking for a new clock. There were several that I liked but the negative reviews scared me off. (I guess it's been a while since I last purchased a simple battery operated wall clock.) I purchased this clock primarily based upon the Amazon reviews, and I absolutely agree with the other positive reviews. If this clock fits your decor, then you can purchase it without any reservations whatsoever.

I got this clock a while back. After opening the Amazon box, I found that the clock was relatively unprotected within its own box, with only a plastic bag to protect it. Not normally a big deal, but I found out after adding a battery and setting the time that the hour hand was loose. It always pointed down. Neither the internal nor external box showed any sign of damage, so perhaps the hour hand just wasn't fully pressed into place on the assembly line.The clock itself is attractive, and all plastic (expected). It operated silently, was very light and would have worked well if the hour hand hadn't been loose. I returned it to Amazon, and the return process went very smoothly.I ended up ordering a  Seiko wall clock with a curved glass face  for the same price as the clock being reviewed.

This clock is exactly what I was looking for. It is affordable but doesn't look cheap. It's large without being too large, and I can see the numbers easily from across the room. (My vision isn't very good.) It looks very much like the picture. Best of all, no ticking sound! I hate a clock that ticks and this one is truly quiet. I'm thinking of purchasing a second one for our basement.Update: It's been two years and this clock is still going strong. It continues to keep good time and remains as quiet as the day I purchased it.

Excellent clock... I purchased 2 of them in 2012... 4 years later, they're working as good as day 1. The clock looks great (exactly as pictured) and has a durable finish. It's easy to hang on a wall. It keeps accurate time. Battery lasts a long time. And the best part, it's actually completely silent... not a sound. You can hold it to your ear, and you won't hear a thing. I highly recommend this clock, especially if you're looking for one that is silent sweep (doesn't make the ticking sound). This clock is better than anything you'll find on a shelf at a department store (which all tick).

This clock is the most awesome thing I've bought myself in a long time. After my friend broke my trusty wall clock a few years ago and replaced it with a clock that kept getting later and later and had to be readjusted every few months, I decided to change it to one of those big wall clocks, like the ones you see in office buildings. It broke when I tried to fit a battery into the battery slot, and when I fixed it, I realized just how CRAZY loud the second hand was! I dealt with it until the scotch tape I used in my handiwork gave out, and I decided no more cheap clocks! This was pretty pricey for someone with my budget, but THIS CLOCK IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. The second hand is COMPLETELY silent, it has been keeping time PERFECTLY, and it just looks so darn good! Highly recommended.
