Good quality carbon steel knives. Good value for the money will last a life time if taken care of .... sharp right out of the package..... holds there edge well and easy to sharpen with a steel .... very happy with the purchase

These blades hold an edge. They can be brought to razor sharpness on a ceramic stone.

Love Old Hickory knives.
Although this brand is nice, you do need to be aware that the blades WILL discolor. It is due to what they are made of. You will need to sharpen them yourself. I am still using Old Hickory knives my grandmother used.

These are great knives, but there's a catch
They are heat treated well, easily take a laser sharp edge, and retain it better than any knife that you're going to buy for similar money. If you're complaining about rust, you're the problem, not the knife. Learn the difference between carbon steel and stainless. These will easily outlast you if you take proper care of them. Theres a catch though. As a knife enthusiast I have a hard time finding the words to describe how bad the fit, and finish are on these knives. Seriously, they didn't try. The handle needs sanding, the pins are loose, and whoever did the grinding should be fired. You will need sharpening stones, and you will need to finish the blade yourself. Luckily I enjoy that type of thing, and it's not a problem for me. If it's not a problem for you, and you want good carbon steel, these are for you.

Purchased these as gifts and they were greatly appreciated by all that received them! Old Hickory is hard to replace with the new versions on the market today. This is one knife that has been handed down through the years, just hope these will last as long as the ones they were "added" to, ones that are 60-70 years old and still going strong. :)

Quality set
Love this set for butchering deer and slicing beef jerky. Takes a bit of work to get it sharp but holds an edge great!
