Why does it say barbecue flavor for the mango habanero

Even though it's mango habanero flavored it is still a barbecue sauce type base. I did not like this product at all as I thought it had a very artificial almost plastic taste and I ended up giving the bottles away.

Can you use this as a marinade?

Yes you can since the second ingredient on the list is vinegar and this product also contains citric acid. Marinades serve two purposes: 1) add flavor to meat and 2) soften the muscle fibers of the meat with an acid such as vinegar or citric acid found in lemon juice. This marinade contains both vinegar and citric acid, I believe it would make a great marinade!
