Can this be used for golf?

Yes but it doesn’t have a flag lock or anything like that.

Which setting do i need to use for shooting from a stand?

You need the mode that shows horizontal and vertical and then you would aim your shot based on the horizontal distance to target. Don't use the straight line setting from a stand as your shot will hit high.

Can units be changed from yards to meters?

Yes it can. Just do a long press on the mode button and it will switch back and forth from yards to meters. The speed function however, is locked on Km/hr. There is no setting for MPH. BTW, this is an excellent range finder. I have tested it for distance on a measured shooting range and it is spot-on accurate.
