Works, but you have to be close
Someone is stealing credit card info from my disabled father-in-law, so we thought they might have a listening device in his room. This is easy to use and detects signals, but you can't just walk into a room and detect everything like I hoped. You have to be a couple inches away. I saw a few video reviews that show this so I guess that's just how it works. You can sweep electrical outlets, pictures, walls etc but it takes a while. I had an el cheapo for $15 from Brad's Deals but the instructions were terrible and I got no useful info from it. This works but I'm thinking the CIA uses something better, probably for a few hundred bucks.

Purchase inspired by Better Call Saul episode
In one episode the character "Mike" tears apart his car searching for a tracking mechanism that he finally found hidden inside his gas cap. If he had only owned this little device it wouldn't have taken him more than five minutes to find the transmitter. I don't expect that anyone will ever want to track my movements, but I use this to compare signal strength between my routers on different floors, and I'm sure I'll find another use at some point.
