Worth its weight in gold
I bought the cheaper alternative brand pocket jig a few weeks ago and it was rubbish. It didn’t stay in place under the clamp, there is no gauge for the drill depth and for someone that has never used a pocket jig before (like me) it wasn’t the most user friendly tool to figure out. The kreg is everything the alternative brand jig is not. Starting with the jig itself. There is no question where the bit has to be placed on the timber and having the clamp bracket on top makes the jig stay put. Even if you’re not using the recommended clamp that kreg also produce. The drill bit itself is another vital part to the process as it creates a great channel for the screw and if you have used the jig correctly, it will leave a nice lip in the channel for the screw head to sit on. I used it for the very first time yesterday and it was child’s play. I felt really confident using it. I am building a really straight forward stool for my workshop and just a simple butt join is going to work just fine as the kreg provides a really snug tight fit. I like the fact that you get a variety of self tap in square headed screws with it to use with the extended square head bit. It is definitely worth spending the money. I can see myself buying the bigger kit in the future. I couldn’t be happier.

Excellent
I need to make a few projects for the house and garden and whilst doing my research came across the Kreg R3 pocket hole jig which is designed to make joints in a professional manner.I quickly tried it on a scrap piece of wood and it works perfectly so I can now get on with my projects. As with most people when deciding what to buy we look at reviews, price and service. The supplier, Tools-House have offered all this, an excellent tool at an excellent price complete with an excellent service, what more can I say?

First of all, thanks for the heads up from Mr. Murphy, about the clamp (or lack of it) situation. That I sorted out... got a C clamp. What I should have done, is also take the advice and buy additional screws.Don't get me wrong, this is a brilliant tool. It does everything it claims to do and it is a real time saver. However, it is a designed system. Don't even think about trying to use other screws. What you save in cost you waste in time, and since time is money...it all evens out.Just one thing in case there are some execs from Kreg who actually pay attention to these reviews:You've got a wonderful product. I command you on the innovative design, and you deserve compensation for it. It's okay with me that your drill attachements for the screws only fit your particular brand of screws. I would have done the same. Now here comes the criticism:You're pissing off your customer base with simply enclosing 8 screws in variety of assorted sizes. Either don't provide any screws and offer them for sale separately in individual boxes of 25 or 100 or whatever...because the assortment included is not enough to finish a project. The other option of course is provide more.I currently live in Ibiza and had to order this item from the UK. I can't just pop down to the corner store and get some more screws. After having waited for this product to be delivered, now I have to wait an additional week for screws. I'm really, really, really annoyed, and that has spoiled the fact that the tool is amazing.Furthermore, the box of assorted screw sizes you sell, have had bad reviews, because the sizes are determined by Kreg, not one's individual needs. That's why I didn't buy them. I need number 8 screws in zinc to attach 2.5x20cm pine plancks to 5.8x5.8cm legs. You provide 8 of those in the kit. Without including the bottom supports, at a minimun just to assemble the table frame I need 16. Then of course, there's the joining of the tabletop boards to one another, attaching them to the frame the bottom supports, bottom shelves etc...I don't expect you to provide them for free, obviously, but...LET YOUR CUSTOMER KNOW...PLEASE!There's nothing more frustrating than having to stop what you're doing because you've run out of screws. It's kind of like buying a new car that just makes it out of the showroom, runs out of gas, and leaves you stranded in the middle of nowhere and not a gasoline station in sight. Get my drift?MariaP.S. On November 14, I tried ordering 100 packs of selected No. 8 size screws in coarse zinc, 2-1/2, 1-1/2, 1-1/4 inches. The delivery charge to my destination exceeded the cost of the screws. Thanks for nothing Kreg Jig!I now own an item I can't use.The rating goes to zero.It basically means that 300 screws cost me over 60 euros.

Nice Bit of Kit
Form a DIY'ers point of view. This was very easy to use. Watched a video on you tube on how to use first. Did a test cut on an old pice of wood. Just to get the hang of it. The only thing to remember is when you put the drill bit into the plastic block. You must have the drill bit turning before you start to cut the grove in the wood for your screw or you could break the Drill Bit tip. I used a cordless drill and it worked fine for me. Have made loads of screw holes. wish I had this years ago.
