It's a classic.
The factual stories at the front and back of the chapters are the high points. The fictional tales are lesser.

A pretty much of a dated book.
Yes dated and some bigoted views. But that was the way the White Hunters looked at Africa in the ol days. It of course is no longer acceptable, but was what they did.

It is Ruark- or gathered bits of him anyway. better than Hemingway in his prose.
I liked every word, I hated that it ended. Ruark's prose is incredibly engaging and sustaining. I brings me back to Africa with every word. I have read other Ruark penned dialogues and all are the same. He IS the master story teller.

Edge of my seat from start to finish!
No one writes about African Big Game Hunting any better than Ruark. He and Hemingway will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you are a hunter this book is for you.
