Cold Hands, Warm Heart - "A Must Read" book
If you are planning to visit Denali, Alaska, this book should be one of the top books on your required reading list BEFORE your visit. If your only definition of the Iditarod is that it is an annual dog sled race between two places in Alaska where huskies pull a sled with a driver, this is a "must read" book. If you enjoy reading a book that you cannot put down until you finish the chapter, "Cold Hands, Warm Heart" is for you. Jeff may have cold, frost-bitten hands but his warm heart is full of love for his family, friends, and animals both tame and wild.I met Jeff and his family on Father's Day this year (2008) at the Husky Homestead in Denali and my one regret was that I did not realize how fortunate my family and I were to be there until AFTER I read his book on my return home. Jeff is not only driven to be an Iditarod winner but more than that, he is driven to make to make this world a better place for other people.

Good read for anyone
Interesting book. Got it before we went to Alaska and to Jeff King's Husky Homestead. Great insight into the life of a musher and the races. That aid I would only give the tour a 3. Jeff wasn't there and I learned a lot more from the book that the tour.

Great book
Ordered the book before going to Alaska. Looking forward to meeting Jeff and going to the homestead. However the trip will now have to wait due to the Coronavirus. :-(

However it gives a good look at King's journey to a multi-time champion musher ...
Jeff King tells his own story of following his dream to become an Alaskan, lived in the bush and ultimately run Huskies. The book is entertaining and exciting but a bit disjointed at times since most chapters stand as rather isolated vignettes and not always in chronological order. However it gives a good look at King's journey to a multi-time champion musher and winner of both the Yukon Quest and Iditarod as well as many shorter races.

Great book if you’ve been to Alaska and to learn all about the itinerary
Wanted to buy this book when we were in Alaska last year but didn’t then I had a hard time finding it. Finally did. It was a gift for my husband. He loved it.

Love mushing? Then you have to read this story
I bought this for my wife as she is a huge mushing fan and has started to mush, as well. She recently met Mr. King and I thought she might enjoy reading more about him. She read the book to me on a recent trip. Wow, what an impressive career! The story is well written and descriptive to the point where you can visual exactly what he is telling you. I think he could do well as a fiction writer if he wanted.
