Miops Splash SP-FULL-KIT Smartphone Controllable Water Drop Kit (2021 Spring Edition)

This is a revised review of this product. I have used it 3 times now, taking near 1500 photos in the process. I took rough 500 photos each time I used the product. On my first attempt, I managed only about 5 collisions in 500 attempts, on my 2nd attempt I managed 0 collisions in the next 500 attempts, which was every annoying. On my 3rd attempt, I managed about 100 collisions from my 500 attempts. I finally found a winning formula (see posit below) that almost guarantees a collision ever 5 photos or less. All of my photos were taken in camera mode with an off-camera-flash. Wasnt able to find a winning formula for flash mode.This product drops water droplets. The bracket is a little flimsy and awkward to use at first. Getting the timing correct is really annoying cos you can literally spend hours with no collisions. Once you find a winning formula, it is really satisfying. I was using a macro kens sowas able to get within 300mm of the action.

Having used a home made water drop kit to provide the drops in the past, I've never been able to capture collisions before. I decided to treat myself and get this kit to aid with getting those type of pictures. I haven't been disappointed.The kit comes very well presented and has everything you need apart from the remote shutter cable for your camera (MIOPS will sell you one separately, if you need one). The entension arm to mount the dropper on is a real help (does take a while to get used to and set-up correctly). It doesn't take long to set-up (there are some good instructions on the MIOPS website to help) . I used the camera rather than flash connection so the camera remotely controlled the flash. The first session I took about 200 pics and got 46 collisions using setting that were recommended on the website (see 1st 3 example pics), so was really please. The next session I experimented with using some red and green food colouring (see the final pic). Didn't get such a good hit rate but I was experimenting with the settings.The only thing I have found is that when it's dialled in I'll get 2 good pics then it seems to go out and I have to change the trigger delay, but I think it might be my mounting moving though as I need a longer shutter cable, and a bit more patience.This is a fantasic piece of kit and I'm looking forward to many more hours of experimentation with it.

Struggled to work out the timing on this but getting there. there was an issue with the flash trigger but was able to visit the supplier, Rogitech, and Roger spent 30mins going through different set ups with both his own and my equipment. found that the unit was at fault and changed it for a new one. haven't got round to using this one yet but have high hopes.Occasionally the original unit would allow a stream of water to flow out and not drip but this may be a result of the trigger issue.4 stars due to the above comments and 5 stars to Rogitech for their help, assistance and service.

Good fun, but you need to spend a lot of time until you get close to the result you want.

This is a great product and I used it for a couple of days. Unfortunately I had to send it back because there was a leak and drips were falling when they shouldn't have been. There was no problem with the seller, they gave me a refund as soon as they received the product back. In the meantime, I ordered a replacement MIOPS Splash kit and there are no leaks and it works just fine. I suspect I got a rogue kit.Definitely recommended if you want a simple to use splash system at a relatively reasonable price. Not many splash kits out there are compatible with Fuji cameras but this one is.
