Rosie the Riveter Paper Dolls

'40's styles
Rosie may have been a riveter, but somehow she and her fellows found time for a life outside the factory too. This new Tierney book from Paper Studio Press could be counted among the artist's long string of historical-costume paper dolls. He presents us with brunette Rosie and her pals, copper-redhead June and platinum-blonde Betty, on duty and off-, with a wardrobe of work clothes, casuals, playwear, housedresses, "dressy suits," and formal outfits, any of which could be worn on a modern street without attracting undue comment. The liner notes provide historical background about the women who worked in the wartime factories, and each outfit has a line or two of descriptive matter. This will be invaluable for scholars and a delight for Tierney's many fans.

Disappointing quality
I have bought other paper dolls by Tom Tierney before, so I had a particular quality in mind when I ordered these. I was disappointed in these due to the paper quality used (easily tearable) and the fact that the dolls themselves are meant to be cut out of the actual cover pages of the book. Upon closer comparison, I realized that this collection is produced by Paper Studio Press, not Dover (as so many of the Tom Tierney paper dolls are)-so something to keep in mind for all Paper Studio Press products. I do not think it was worth the price, especially when you consider it is twice the cost of the Dover books.

An eternal kid
I just like paper dolls. I like looking at the outfits which are historically accurate, but easier to break down than the details in the educational books of styles and fashions. I like the imagination.

I realise these aren't really meant to be cut out but this just seems a bit less nice than the other books put out by this autho
It arrived damaged. Also the actual dolls are the ones on the front cover and the back cover. I realise these aren't really meant to be cut out but this just seems a bit less nice than the other books put out by this author.
