As a dogwalker, I am outdoors a great deal of the time and in summertime the sun beats down on me with relentless brutality. Temperatures have been 90°+ for weeks and it has drained me. I've tried wearing a hat to shield my face from the sun but it just makes my head even more sweaty and uncomfortable.I ordered this umbrella for the 50 spf and couldn't be happier with it. Others have noted that it's awkward because of the reverse folding and that's true but but not a real inconvenience for me. Some have also complained of cheap handle construction and difficulty getting it to open. It is a tricky at first but I am able to open it with 2 arthritic thumbs and a sprained middle finger. The reward of being protected from the scorching direct sunlight is worth the effort. It actually does keep me cooler by about 10° which is no small feat, and it holds up well in strong wind.This is a hardy umbrella that fills the bill for what I needed. Great quality and gorgeous to look at as well!

It doesn't open and close well. Took me a long time to fold it back.

It was a gift for my daughter who is going to London soon. It is very beautiful and strong umbrella. The only reason I gave it four stars is that it is not auto open, and the description said nothing about it.

Just received this umbrella. Looking forward to testing in sunny 90+ F heat. Hope the black underlayer can keep me cool as well as protect against UV. Bit of a trick to open and close so not very ergonomic that way. Also the wording on the printed design doesn't make sense. Would have preferred no wording on the London theme which is the one I purchased. Otherwise quite attractive.

I read all the reviews before purchasing, and I have to say, once it arrived, I was confused a bit on how to open it. Then I just grabbed the folded umbrella part and pulled away from me, and the mystery was solved. There's no need to struggle with trying to open this umbrella- there's no buttons to push or anything like some of the cheaper ($5.00) store purchased umbrellas. With this umbrella, you just pull the top of it away from your body and it will lengthen, then you can open the rest of it. It's fairly simple once you quit putting too much thought into it. And it's a very nice umbrella. I purchased it because I have lupus and need a sun protecting umbrella for my skin, and I wanted something a bit more stylish than flowers or polka dots. I love Parisian decor, and this had the UV sun protection I need in an umbrella for everyday and travel purpose, and it fits in my VB Crossbody purse. Some have commented that the quality of the fabric is cheap, I don't think the fabric is cheap, rather of a different material than the $5.00 nylon made umbrella. It also has a roomy coverage for a 38 inch umbrella. I'm very happy with it.

Beautiful umbrella. Very difficult to open and close it, the structure is of very poor quality.

Quality was bad. I used it about 3 times and it broke. Wont be buying again

Update: From one star to fiveA+ for customer service. They contacted me and sent me a new umbrella.New one opens better. It's a bit stiff, but maybe will get better with use.I may have gotten a defective unit the first time.Does not open properlyI needed a summer umbrella with UV protection, and this one seemed like it would do the job and it looked nice (got the London one). However, it's difficult to open. I have to manually flip the sides to open properly. Don't know if I got a defective one or they are all like that. Started refund process.
