Can Shroomtek be used by beginners?

Yes, ShroomTek is easy to use and requires minimal maintenance. However, it is important to read through all of the instructions before you begin to gain a better understanding of the entire process from inoculation to fruiting.

How should I store my bag while it's colonizing?

Allow your bag to colonize undisturbed and out of direct sunlight. Temperature for incubation shouldn't exceed 75 degrees F or dip below 55 degrees F. Keeping your bag at the higher end of the temperature range will encourage faster colonization.

How can I speed up colonization?

When the mycelium has grown 3-4 inches outward from the point of injection, carefully massage the bag to break up the colonized substrate and mix it into the uncolonized substrate. IMPORTANT: Do this without opening the bag.

Do I need any special equipment or supplies to use Shroomtek?

When you inoculate your bag, you will need a spore syringe or liquid culture, a pair of latex or nitrile gloves, a spray bottle with 70% isopropyl alcohol, and paper towels. Later in the process, you will also need scissors and an XL rubber band.

Always reliable.

This brand never disappoints. Great quality, reliable, every time. I didn’t use the spore booster, never really needed to. I just poured some colonized grain into this bag this past week and already I have about 40% colonization. I’ve never had a contamination issue with this product, and I trust them implicitly. Price wise, they’re a little higher than some, but absolutely worth it for the piece of mind.

Great results for this beginner.

Great results as long as you follow the very helpful and comprehensive instructions. You will need to get your own spores for whatever type of mushrooms you wish to grow, be it Morels, Truffles, (good luck finding those spores!), or one of the many "Magical" varieties. Great size for the beginner, (that would be me). I had great success first time I tried growing my own and I am not a master gardener by any definition of the word.

Good for testing/not reliable

Gonna stick to my other brand (BA) this one just wasn’t growing at all, despite all sorts of troubleshooting, I think this can work for regular mushrooms but some species cannot thrive in this bag
