Time and Time Again: Sixteen Trips in Time

A mixed bag for sure
Some of the stories were simply excellent. Most were not.I also found the way the stories ended for the most part to be anti-climatic.Worth it for the few good stories - but you may land up skipping half of them like I did.

Superlative Stories by a True Grand Master
Silverberg fits an odd place in science fiction - tons of awards and accolades but almost nothing that anyone clearly associates with his name. With Heinlein you had Stranger in a Strange Land and the juvi's, with Asimov you had Foundation and the Robots, and with Arthur C Clarke you had Childhood's End and plenty of dry space faring explorations, but Silverberg? You'd be hard pressed to name much of anything he has done - except for perhaps Lord's Valentine's Castle. That's a crying shame - as this really terrific compilation of 16 time travel stories ranging from the downright sublime (Homefaring and Sailing to Byzantium) to the hysterical (Trips) to the simple throwaways (What We Learned From This Morning's Newspaper) shows. Silverberg is a talent with a huge and fascinating imagination, and everyone of these stories is an absolute hit, with even the weaker stuff leaving you with a lasting impression. Maybe the absolute weirdest one is Homefaring, as it will have you never look at lobsters quite the same way again. This is a terrific little book, well priced and ready to go. You should add it to your collection. It is absolutely first rate.

Great writing!
I purchased this book on a whim, have never read Robert Silverberg before but the notion of time travel fascinates me.I've finished the first two stories now and am more than glad that I purchased this. He writes so very well and the plots kept me interested right 'till the end.

Classic Silverberg
Robert Silverberg has of way of making the impossible entertaining. Some classic shorts and some I had never read. Enjoyed the ride.

Good book
A very good collection of time travelling tales. I loved them all. I hadn't read any of Mr. Silverberg's work before, but he's on my must read list now.

A trip to the past in more ways than one
"Here I am in a strange city on the far side of time, but the real mystery here is... women! Am I right, fellas?"This anthology of time travel stories also serves as a bit of a retrospective on the writer's career, which spanned the second half of the 20th century - and let's just say it shows in the ways sex, gender, and female characters are featured throughout.I did like the trilobites, though. Can't go too wrong with some trilobites.

This is a great collection of time travel classics from one of the masters.
As with any anthology, some of the stories contained here are better than others. The best ones are classics. It ends with "Against the current", which is frightening and appealing simultaneously.

Great collection of stories
This is a collection of stories that were written over his entire career, and published in different science fiction magazines over the years. I have read a lot of time travel stories, so I was afraid I had already read some of these, but they were all new to me. There were a wide variety of stories, all coming at time travel from different angles. Most won't what I would call typical time travel stories. They were very creative, and I really enjoyed reading all of them.
