Question 1

What is hydrocolloid?

Accepted Answer

Essentially hydrocolloid is a gelatin type material that contains a bunch of unpronounceable elements that aid wound healing. Hydrocolloid dressings keep the wound exudate inside the dressing and the skins heals itself much faster avoiding scars. Some genius realized this could help acne. It does. Obviously the little patches will work on one blemish, so it is not really practical for severe acne. This works very well on an specific breakout. It will absorb whatever is inside that blemish like a sponge, turning white where all the gunk attached to the patch. Change it when this happens and continue to do so until blemish is gone. It will prevent any mark from the blemish and really pulls out the matter in the pimple. You could prick the blemish with a sterilized pin, but dont squeeze or touch. Just put the patch on. My husband works with wound care products and I remembered these little patches when I couldn’t get a pimple I kept popping to heal flat. I must have popped it 5 times and it would heal as a hard bump. It was dry, clean and normal skin color, but bumpy as if it was forming a hardened cyst. It was driving me crazy. I popped it hard again and actually caused a little wound. I put the little patch on for a week. It kept getting a little white pin point in gelatin of the patch. I kept changing. Six days later the hole healed clean and completely flat!!! When you change it your pimple or wound will be pinkish, dont mind it; that is new skin....highly recommend. There are many hydrocolloid patches out there for acne, this particular brand worked on a very tough, old, hardened pimple.

Question 2

Will this stick on oily skin?

Accepted Answer

It will stick on oily skin but for best results, you should wash first and then apply the patch. You can then put on any moisturizers, makeup, etc. on top or around and it’ll stay put.

Question 3

Can I put these on a staph infected white head or am I not supposed to drain those?

Accepted Answer

As someone who has had MRSA and has had a million staph infections I can tell you when I need to go to the doctor and when I can deal with it myself without all the extra. I had a staph infected pimple that turned into 3 of them all next to each other almost within a day. It wouldn’t go away for almost 2 weeks. I happened upon some of these patches in a drugstore and I bought three kinds. This wasn’t one of the kinds I got. I don’t really remember what the other two were that didn’t really work but the peach slice deep acne brand cleared this monster off my chin in around 3 days of wearing that brand pretty much day and night. I noticed a huge difference in the first day. I think maybe because that particular brand also has other ingredients and it helped kill that bacteria better. The other two brands I didn’t notice made that big of a difference after the first day. These may be fine patches and they may be fine for most kinda acne but mine was hormonal acne then add in a little staph and that just worked out to be a hot mess. And I did go to the doctor, not for my chin and not because I was gonna die from staph but it is a pretty uncomfortable thing to have and I had it also on my arm and my face had almost healed by the time I could get in my doctors office. Too bad they don’t have patches big enough to cover my arm. I wonder if it would have worked as well as it did on my face?

Question 4

is this for all skin types?

Accepted Answer

My skin is very sensitive and it works great on it so I figure it would work on most others
