Cute solar fairy house, detailing a little rough up close
This little little house is perfect for a fairy garden. It's described as a mushroom house, but with the flowered roof it doesn't really look like a mushroom. When lit the yellow has a warm glow. Up close some of the sculpture and paint details are rough and I've taken off a star for that. I tested the house on the patio of my shady backyard. On sunny days it will only gets a few hours of direct sunlight especially in the spring and summer when the trees have leaves. The light came fully charged and shone brightly after the sun went down on the first night. The next day was cloudy and rainy so the light didn't charge or come on at night. The following day was brighter with some winter sun and the light charged and came on for a few hours at night. Not all solar lights work in my backyard so I'm happy with the result. In reality I will probably be creating my fairy garden in a more shaded area under the trees so I don't think it will get enough sun to charge. It will still be a nice addition to a fairy garden.

Very adorable little solar cottage, but...
This is very cute, and I'm not saying not to get it. I just want you to have all the facts first. And the main one is, if you want everything to stay as it is, that's not going to happen. I have more than one of these solar items with the fake grass on it, and it will yellow, quite dramatically. And it won't take too long to see it, once you put it in the sun. Also, for anything like this that is painted, or can fade (talking about any painted part now), I recommend spraying down with an outdoor UV protectant. You'll need to decide if you want flat or go up to gloss. Some things call for the ladder, but other things you may not want that kind of a high gloss look on. I just remembered that I should have a picture of a gnome I had with the fake grass on it, as I sent a picture to the seller. Anyway after finally finding that, you'll have to take my word that it was a very dark green, similar to what this one was, if not a shade darker. It's a bit hard to see in the picture, but the change is fairly dramatic. And it lightened up even further, before I put everything away for Halloween decorations and winter. So the yellowing is a bit more distinctive then in the picture I provided. However, it still looks good. I just don't know what it's going to end up looking like at the end of next year though. Also, these types of items with the fake grass on them are more vulnerable, and more easily damaged. It must have happened just after this picture was taken, but I remember there's a chunk missing in the hat, and I have no idea what happened. As it hadn't fallen or anything else. So possibly rain and whatever might have happened naturally. I may experiment with, not a spray, but a heavy clear coat, letting it soak in well. This might only not protect it from discoloring further, but should provided with greater structural integrity. This being said, that's why I gave it the star of writing I did. Which is hard to figure out what to do in a situation like this, where it looks great. And is very cute for people that want something like this. But at the same time, isn't going to look like this in just months, if not weeks. It really didn't take all that long, for me to start noticing things have changed.
