Call Of Cthulhu: Horror Roleplaying In the Worlds Of H.P. Lovecraft (5th Edition - Chaosium #2336) Paperback – Box set, January 1, 1995

I own and play a lot of RPGs. Call of Cthulhu is, in my opinion, the greatest system. This edition does not disappoint. I highly recommend getting any of the editions. Call of Cthulhu is a horror RPG based on the writings of HP Lovecraft and other horror writers. The horror is more cosmic and dangerous than your typical zombie, vampire, or crazed killer type. I have played Call of Cthulhu since it first came out and the game mechanisms are clean and make sense. A percentage based system (d100), unlike D&Ds d20 system. You roll against a skill level. If you roll lower you succeed in what you were trying to do. Also, the sanity system makes it feel like you are truly learning more and more of the horrors of the universe as you slowly start to go insane.

First of all, my used copy arrived in beautiful condition and even still had a map of Innsmouth tucked inside! I couldn't be happier!As for the book itself, an awesome resource for someone new to CoC (me) who isn't sure they want to start dropping serious $$ on all the 7th edition books yet. The art is fun, the layout is straightforward, easy to read and follow, and I'm honestly having a good time just reading it.Bonus shout out to Chaosium for making character sheets, quick start rules, and even a couple adventures free to download through their website!

One of the best, if not the best, editions of my favorite roleplaying game of all time.As stated by other reviewers Chaosium did an outstanding job with this edition by provided clear, concise and well-formatted rules and reference sections.This is my go-to book when I need to quickly reference something CoC related.

5th edition; imo, the best edition. I have yet to do one of the Big Three campaigns, but looking forward to it.

Very informative and fun to play. I actually used it as a sourcebook for a GURPs adventure.

Still among of the best TTRPG systems. All editions are pretty much the same. Its a great game regardless of the edition.

This is one of the best organized rulebooks that I have ever seen. Don't get the newer 6'th edition get this one.
