Does the job
I took someone else's suggestion and bought an extra cable when I bought my Scan Gauge II so I could install it in both my car and my truck and switch back and forth. I like the Scan Gauge well enough that I would like to have one in vehicle but it works ok to switch them back and forth, if you already have the cable in place and an easy way (I used Velcro in my car and a conveniently sized space below the radio in my truck) to move the gauge. So, if I buy another Scan Gauge this wasn't necessary but it's maybe 75% as good as having one in each car.The biggest inconvenience in switching from one car to another seems to be that any calibration effort you spend on one vehicle gets lost when you switch, but I find that precise mileage isn't as important to me as the instant feedback I get to how I drive. I actually haven't got around to calibrating it yet anyway. And I did save myself the hassle by being able to reset my car computer code twice when I didn't get the gas cap tight.

Does exactly what it's suppose to.
I gave this cable a four start rating because the cable works exactly the way I expected it. (It sends information to a scanguage)The reason I did not give it five stars is because, (as some other reviews also mentioned) the cable exits the connector housing on the side which may be problematic depending on the space the obd-ii connection is on your vehicle. With that being said, it fits just fine in my 2001 golf, and my 2000 Honda insight.

NOT made by Linear Logic (ScanGuage)!!!
The cable that I received was made by OBD2CABLES, not Linear Logic, the company that makes the ScanGauge II and E products, even though the listing in a couple of places says that it is "by ScanGauge". Now these sort of cables are pretty simple items, so you would think that a non-OEM cable should be just fine... but it would be nice to know that you are buying an equivalent part versus an OEM part. Unfortunately for me, the cable I was sent (from ScanTool, fulfilled by Amazon) has some sort of intermittent problem that seems to confuse my Jeep Cherokee's computer, causing an engine shutdown! I plan to order a genuine ScanGauge OBDII cable directly from Linear Logic. Amazon informed me that ScanTool is the source of the deceptive wording in the item listing, and is allowing me to return the non-OEM cable for a refund.

scan gauge acc
I LOVE this product!! Even tho my car is 1996, almost ALL the features work on this! I needed the visual gauge info being that my particular vehicle DID NOT HAVE ANY and this was PERFECT! and ACTUALLY, the MPG,MILEAGE,FUEL USED ARE PRETTY DAMN ACCURATE for being an add-on device! I hid my cable inside the dash as to not having wires hanging out all over and needed another cable so I could use out as a scanner for another vehicle and also to be more portable to use on another vehicle!GREAT PRODUCT, ACCESSORY!VERY FAST SERVICE AND EXCELLENT PRICE!RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT,"SCAN GAUGE II" and ACCESSORIES!!!

I received this cable yesterday. It did not work ...
I received this cable yesterday. It did not work as advertised. My ScanGauge II was purchased in 2008 and the car it's connected to is a 2008 Honda Civic EX. The cable was so tight once connected to the back of the Scan Gauge. When I tried to remove it the Ethernet port came out of the device. I had to use a flat head screw driver to remove the cable from the Ethernet port. I was able to put the port back in the Scan Gauge. I just hope it's not damaged.I am returning this cable and will buy directly from the manufacturer.

will not fit if obd2 port is recessed
It's an ok replacement, but if your obd2 port is a bit recessed in a trim panel this will not plug into it. The cable on this one exits to the side of the plug body, where as the original scangage2 exits the rear center.

An extra cable
I bought a second cable for my other vehicle to let me transfer my scan gauge from one car to the other and not have to remove the cable.

not required but makes life easier
I use my scangauge in two different vehicles. I got tired of removing the cable and swapping between vehicles. I spent a little money(the cable is cheap and good quality) and now I have a cable snaked in the dash of both vehicles. It looks clean without having a wire hanging out in the open and I don't have to worry about getting the cable out to use in another vehicle.
