Phycox Soft Chews -- "Small Bites" Version -- Effective, Fairly-Priced Arthritis Treatment for Dogs Who Weigh 30 Pounds or Less
I have had all of my dogs (a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix, and a Newfoundland) on Phycox supplements, and this supplement has worked wonders in treating their arthritis. My Newf and Shepherd were also put on Meloxicam (liquid) and Adequan (monthly injections) once their joints began to substantially deteriorate. But even with these "more powerful" meds on board, my husband and I noticed a definite decrease in our dogs' movement and energy level if we stopped giving the Phycox. Over 17 years, we have conducted multiple "trials" with various combinations, altering them as our dogs' conditions changed with age. The only product that I will never take my arthritic dog off is Phycox.Regarding taste: All three dogs initially loved the taste of these bites. My Corgi and Newf kept adoring them until they finally passed away. My Shepherd, on the other hand, has gotten finicky in her old age (she's almost 14) and sometimes needs them coated with peanut butter or wet cat food. So, just like some humans love liver and others can't stand it, some dogs will snarf these chews like they're doggie treats, and others will spit them out. If you want a supplement for arthritis and your dog won't take Phycox, try Glycoflex (also available through Amazon). This is an excellent product with a very different flavor and smell than Phycox. It does not contain the same ingredients as Phycox and, from my experience, isn't a one-to-one substitute for it. But I have friends who are as devoted to Glycoflex as I am to Phycox, and it definitely smells "beefier."Re "Small Bites" vs. regular Phycox Soft Chews: According to the Directions for Use on the "Small Bites" package label (shown in a picture on the Amazon website), this product is appropriate for dogs who weigh *less than 31 pounds*. Unfortunately, this seems to be the ONLY spot in which this information is provided. I agree with Mathew Barber (review of 4/7/2015) that the labeling on the packages, and the Amazon Product Description, needs to be clearer. A link to the larger version of the product, with the label "Click Here If Your Dog Weighs Over 30 Pounds," would be ideal. Pet owners with arthritic dogs shouldn't have to read the fine print on a *picture* of this product in order to determine whether or not it's appropriate for their dog's size.[Note: I use the "Small Bites" version for my German Shepherd (65 lbs) because she has nerve damage that makes it difficult to chew and swallow the larger version. But I checked with my veterinarian about the proper dosage before using the "Small Bites" version. It is not a good idea to buy "Small Bites" and then guess at how many chews to give your larger dog.]Summary: A truly wonderful, effective, product that is fairly priced for the benefits it can give to arthritic dogs. But if your dog weighs over 30 pounds and does not have difficulty swallowing, purchase the version of Phycox Soft Chews that is NOT labeled "Small Bites.

Small bits for smaller dogs - taste better?
My vet recommended these for my aging Jack Russell. We started with the large version the vet sold us and despite the "guarenteed palatability" our dog was reluctant to eat a half broken into several pieces. These are soft, chewy and look to have a texture like a soft browny. Easy to cut or simply break into even smaller pieces. Then I found these small less expensive ones of the same brand. We still break these into 3 or 4 crew bits, but Geneva doesn't hesitate to gobble them up.We feed a 15lb dog one of these after breakfast and another after she cleans her dinner bowl.We noticed after a few weeks that she was back to climbing stairs and running around the house. However, eventually she slowed down again as age catches up with her (15 now).I recommend these to ease the pain of getting old in your dog and helping the transition into less activity. I especially recommend these if your dog starts having trouble with stairs. And for whatever reason my dog likes these better than the larger version.

My 10 year old long haired chihuahua looked like he had a seizure he was limping so badly
My 10 year old long haired chihuahua looked like he had a seizure he was limping so badly. He was dragging his back leg and wobbling on his front legs one morning. After a few hours he was better so I hesitated taking him to the vet for meds right away (many dogs we know have had really bad reactions to vet drugs). He was better after a small Epsom salt bath. We think he hurt himself jumping off of our bed (stubborn old man hesitated to use the stairs we bought him). So anyway...I bought this and expedited after seeing the reviews....MY DOG IS BRAND NEW! I paired this with Holistic Animal Care Yucca Intensive natural anti-inflammatory drops and Pet.Releaf Edibites with naturally occurring CBD. I got to my vet appointment to make sure nothing was really wrong, and voila! Nothing they could see on x ray or feel on his limbs. He is like a puppy again; jumping and running around being frisky. I highly recommend this product. I will be using this for the rest of his life :)

Dog likes the taste and it works wonders
Purchased Phycox after a friends vet recommended it for their dog with joint issues. What is great about the product is that it is like a treat. My dog hates taking pills no matter what I put them in. Had him on glycoflex which worked great but he did not like the flavor. I just give him two in the morning as a treat and no problem taking them. Best of all is that he has been on them for a week and he has a spring in his step and wants to take a walk now everyday. His tail is wagging because he is happy and you cannot put a price on that.It has a long list of ingredients that are proven to help joint pain like fatty acids, Tumeric, antioxidants, creatine along with the main ingredient phycox. Highly recommend this product especially since it is easy to administer and it works.

For my little dogs arthritis
This product is easy to give, my dog loves it and looks forward to getting it every night before bed. I was disappointed and it was probably my fault, but I assumed that each unit would be one-half the dose of the regular size PhyCox chews. The regular size says to give I/2 unit to small dogs and the small bites say the same thing, but the dose is not half ot the regular size. So now my little one is not getting the same doseage that she was with 1/2 of the regular chew. I give her a whole small bite, but the doseage is not the same. I am now giving her the small bites hoping that she will maintain the good results that she had with half of a regular size. So, if you need a specific dose, check before ordering.
