My Low-Maintenance “Sun-Kissed” Shortcut in a Bottle
Every year around this time I have the same realization. It goes something like: “Wow, I am glowing… like printer paper.” I’m naturally pretty fair, and since I work from home and edit videos like a little cave goblin most days, the sun and I are not exactly best friends. I wanted a tiny bit of color without committing to a full self-tan ritual that involves mitts, exfoliating schedules, and praying I don’t look like a streaky pumpkin. Enter this Jergens Natural Glow +Firming lotion. I grabbed it because I wanted something lazy-girl simple. Like… slap it on after a shower and go live my life simple. And honestly? That’s exactly what this is. The first night I used it, I treated it like regular lotion. No ceremony. Just rubbed it in while watching YouTube and went to bed. No weird sticky feeling, no “don’t sit on anything white for 6 hours” panic. It dries like a normal moisturizer, which already puts it ahead of a lot of self tanners I’ve tried. By day two or three, I started noticing that “wait… did I go outside?” glow. Nothing dramatic. No fake tan line energy. Just a soft, believable warmth to my skin like I’d been on a weekend walk instead of glued to my desk chair. It builds slowly, which I actually prefer. You’re not waking up shocked at a new shade of yourself. It’s more like your skin quietly levels up overnight. The lotion itself feels nice too. Not greasy, not heavy. Just a solid everyday moisturizer. My legs especially felt smoother and less dry, which is a win even without the tan. Now about the “firming/cellulite” claims. I’m realistic. No lotion is out here performing wizardry. But I will say my skin looks a little smoother and more even overall. Maybe it’s the hydration, maybe it’s the subtle color helping blur things out. Either way, I’ll take it. The scent is light and clean. Not that classic self-tanner smell that sneaks up on you halfway through the day. Nobody at the grocery store is going to clock you as “recently marinated.” If there’s any catch, it’s just that you have to be consistent. Skip a few days and the glow slowly fades. But that’s kind of the point with a gradual tanner. For around $10, it’s honestly such an easy, low-effort way to look a little more alive and a little less “indoor plant.” Final thoughts: If you want a deep vacation tan, this isn’t it. But if you want a subtle, healthy glow with zero drama and the bonus of good hydration, this stuff is a staple. It’s basically my “fake I go outside” lotion, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Works great
This stuff is great. Not orange or streaky at all. Very natural looking. Took about 3 days in a row to see a very noticeable difference. I got the light/medium because I wanted to play it safe. I would say unless you are very fair, go darker. I will definitely try the darker one when I'm finished with this tube. I can't really compare this to other self-tanners, as I haven't used any since way back in the day when they all smelled like chemicals, stained everything and turned you into a streaky Cheeto. But I will say, NO streaks, NO Cheeto-orange skin, NO staining of clothes, and NO stinky smell. Has sort of a light, beachy smell. Absorbs pretty quickly into skin so you can get dressed after a few minutes. Also makes skin feel very soft and smooth - and IS a little firming!

Great beginner self tanner, but do your research first
As a young adult who has never used proper self tanner mousse/spray tans/anything of that realm, I wanted to use a gradual lotion first. After about 3 separate times of use, I can say this is a great temporary self tanner lotion for beginners and fellow extremely pale girlies. I am super duper pale in the winter, so I used the light to medium and after ONE use I will be very noticeably tan, so be warned about that. Here are some recommended steps I learned after using this a few times: 1. Exfoliate in the shower with a scrub or loofah ALL OVER. Everywhere that you want to tan with the lotion. Shave your legs or anywhere you like to remove your hair that you will be putting the tanner lotion on. 2. After drying off, use a really hydrating body lotion/moisturizer with minimal to no scent ALL over really well without leaving any dry spots. The lotion itself really doesn’t smell that strong, but for some reason when mixed with strongly scented body lotions it is an extremely strong unpleasant smell. 3. Let your regular body moisturizer dry a bit before putting on the tanner lotion everywhere with a tanning mitt, making sure there are no dry spots and that you equally put the same amount on each arm/leg etc. TIPS: use a fluffy makeup brush to apply the tanner to your hands, wrists, fingers, feet, ankles, elbows, and toes so that there is a nice blend. NOTE, these areas tend to pick up extra tanner lotion which can come out darker. I recommend you don’t focus on these areas when you are applying the tanner to your whole body, and then at the end put a little product on the brush and blend the areas I mentioned above. 4. I shower at night and do all these steps usually before bed and when I wake up in the morning it’s usually settled quite well. I don’t shower until later in the day again and it looks quite dark. Once I shower it’s reduced a bit and will keep color for 5-6 days! I really like it but there can certainly be user error quite easily if you don’t moisturize or blend a certain spot well. There is absolutely no transfer on clothing or bedding and I have white sheets. If you’re not totally pale but don’t want to be very dark from the medium to dark tanner, use it once every two or three days twice a week. Warning tho, im pretty pale and one time every two weeks ish is more than fine for me. Picture is from the first time I did it where my arms were really tan but I didn’t use a brush to blend my wrist and fingers, where you can see my natural skin tone.

Smells Nice!
I am a golfer and a runner and most of the time I spend outside I have socks and shoes on. As a result, my feet are very very white. I needed to attend a wedding and wanted to wear sandals and this product was recommended to me. I followed the instructions and used it several days in a row to build more of a tan, and it worked beautifully. I was not orange, and the color was not streaky. Instead, it was a natural tan that blended with my skin and my legs. Most surprisingly, I have always hated the smell of Jergens lotion. I was going to suffer through it just to use this product because I needed it. I was delighted to find that this lotion smells very nice. I have not done further research to find out if Jergens changed their scent on everything, but this was not the “old lady“ scent I remembered from my youth.

Nice color, no streaks.
I'm not under the mistaken impression that this lotion can actually "firm" anything. It's a marketing gimmick and is likely no different from the nonfirming formula. That being said, however, this lotion imparts a nice glow about 3 to 4 days after you apply it. I only use this self tanner on my legs. First, I shave and exfoliate, making sure my knees, ankles and feet get extra attention. Once my legs are completely dry, I apply grapeseed or almond oil to my feet and knees (and let it absorb for a few minutes) before spreading the lotion over my legs. This ensures that I won't get a buildup of color in these areas and this trick really works. I rub the lotion in until it's completely absorbed making sure I apply an equal amount of lotion to each calf and thigh and making my motions as even as possible so there are no streaks. When I finish applying the lotion to my calves and thighs I then lightly go over my feet and knees, adding no more lotion to what's already on my hands. Then I go over my ankles, feet and knees with a damp washcloth (not wet). Then I let everything dry completely before getting dressed. In this way I completely avoid any streaking and the resulting "tan" comes out nice and even. I apply this lotion every other day throughout the spring and summer. This gives me a bit of color but not a "tan" per se. The color is not orange at all and it is perfect for my light skin tone. I suppose if I applied it more often, the overall color would be darker, but I don't want the color markedly different from my arms and chest (which aren't tan at all thanks to daily SPF). I just want to be able to go without stockings in the hot weather. I live in Florida and believe it or not, no one is tan here. Yes, people have a glow and yes, they still go to the beach, but most of us protect with a high SPF. It's only the tourists who are tan, lol! This lotion does not have the strong chemical smell that some self-tanners have, which is a very good thing. The only down side is having to wait so long for results. I know Jergens makes other self tanners that give instant color but I'm fearful that they would be streaky. So I'll stick with what I know. I've been using this gradual self tanner for a couple of years. I bought it based on the excellent reviews I read, both online and in magazines, so I decided to give it a whirl. I do like the product and am really happy that I've found an application method that doesn't leave me streaky. It works for me. I definitely recommend this product, but don't expect any "firming" miracles. It was absolutely no different from the regular formula, just FYI.

Good stuff!
This stuff smells amazing, hydrates my skin, and I’ve seen a noticeable difference in the color of my arms after 3 days of use. I put it on twice per day. The photo is a picture of my arm versus my leg, which I didn’t use the product on.

Good, works great ,but will stain white clothes or shoes.
I use this all the time, it works great for a tan but I'm only giving it 3 stars because it says that it will not stay in clothing or sheets but that is simply not true. It will wash out of some darker colored clothing but if you wear a lot of white, you will have dinginess around all of the places your skin touches the clothing and just realized today it's ruined my new white shoes because the Back of the tongue touches my ankle and it turned it Brown!!

very strong
wow this is my first time using tanning lotion as I never tan in the sun, no matter what. And i’ve been wanting to add some color to my face to look leaner and damn, only two days of using once or twice a day and my skin is so nicely bronzed without being orange, the smell to me is super nice, like those summer spfs, but it’s not too strong.
