Our first and favorite Thomas Locker book. Our sons loved it and now so do our grandsons!Beautifully illustrated story of two boys on a camping trip up the river with their grandfather as he shows them the origins of the river that flows by by their home. We enjoy their sights, discoveries and the close relationship with their grandfather. Great gift for a child—

Gorgeous illustrations! we used this to kickstart our unit on local creeks and streams in our homeschool. Such a sweet story about a family exploring and enjoying the natural world!

The story line is short and sweet, and appropriate for very young children. But I bought it entirely for the art! What beautiful, beautiful landscapes and a great book for the kids just to pull out and study the art in.. A great addition to our homeschool!

Beautiful book, with a nostalgic feel to a delightful adventure story. I think it encourages a kid's natural curiosity. There's a subtle depth to the simplicity (think, "less is more"). And of course, the pictures are gorogoeus.

A great book from when I was a kid, but too difficult for Japanese JHS kids to read. Would love to use it in class -- maybe HS level.
