Mk.Ⅻはグリフォンエンジンを搭載した最初のスピットファイアで、英本土に低空侵入してくるFw190Aを迎撃する為に低高度用グリフォンエンジンを搭載していました。 Mk.ⅧとMk.Ⅸの機体から抽出されて生産された暫定型式の為に生産数は100機と少なく、配備された部隊も二個飛行隊に留まっています。 キットそのものは2013年に初登場したものですが、本製品はパッケージとデカールを変更した事実上の再販キットです。 さすが実機の母国で開発されただけあり、プロポーションは良好で、機首以外はMk.Ⅷ/Ⅸから引き継いだ胴体やMk.Ⅵまでの左右非対称のラジエーターなど、急造タイプのMk.Ⅻの特徴は的確に捉えています。 脚はエアフィックス製品のお約束として飛行状態でも作れますが、このスケールのスピットファイアのキットとしては珍しく、フラップはダウン状態でも作れます。 付属のデカールは最近のエアフィックススタンダードと言える、カルトグラフ製なので品質は問題ありません。 このスケールでスピットファイアをコレクションする上では欠かせないキットですが、価格は以前の3300円から6600円の二倍に跳ね上がっているのが驚きであり残念です。

On it's own this kit is incomplete. Thisl kit was a gift but you can't actually make it as supplied. In tiny letters on the side of the box it tells you that poly cement (glue) is not included! I can understand that the different paints are not included though they would be useful but the glue! Very disappointing.
