Dark In Death: In Death series by J. D. Robb
The hunt is on for a killer and time is running out for the next victim.Dark In Death has 368 pages, it is the forty-sixth book of the In Death Series. The author, J. D. Robb, has written forty-eight novels and twelve short stories. Her genre is suspense. J. D. Robb is the pseudonym for Nora Roberts.Dark In Death: In Death, series is about a killer who is murdering using a book by an author of police thrillers. Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Detective Peabody investigate the first murder at a Vid Galaxy. They interview all the people in that theater. One person might have seen someone but wasn’t sure about descriptions. So, they had nothing to go on, but they checked bins and recyclers and security feeds hoping to find something. Then, an author of police thrillers comes in to talk to Dallas, because she believes her books are what the killer is using to commit the murder. She doesn’t know about the latest one, is just described a case two of her detectives are working on. Now, they have tied the two murders together and it’s just a matter of time before Dallas gets her killer.I love the way Lieutenant Eve Dallas works to solve her cases. She believes that when a person is murdered that person is hers until she solves the case. She sets up her murder board and her murder book. She has suspects, in this case, the authors, ex-husband and is works to either convict or eliminate him. She has other persons of interest too, and she does the same with all of them.Dallas and Peabody are fun to read about. Peabody is always on a diet but wants to stop and eat most of the time they are out talking to suspects or witnesses. Peabody loves to shop, and Dallas must keep her head on the job. They have a good working relationship. At home, Dallas is married to a billionaire, Roarke. He has many businesses and she teases that he is buying a solar system or selling a small country, but this differs from book to book. When she needs computer help and her team is already working on other things she calls in Roarke, a civilian consultant to assist her with probabilities on the computer and sometime financials. When Dallas needs a psychologist, she calls on Dr. Mira. Dr. Mira is like her profiler she lets Dallas know if she is on the right track in her investigation. With the great team Dallas as at her disposal she usually gets the person’s name and hopefully, she gets to the killer before there is another victim. The author, as always, has made the characters come to life. The plot flows smoothly even though it looks like the murder may go unsolved, in the end, it all comes together. My rating for this Dark In Death is 5 out of 5 stars. There were no noticeable errors. People who love police suspense books with a little romance thrown in will love this book. It can be read as a stand-alone, but you will probably want to read all of them once you read one.

"Lethal plagiarism."
Eve and Roarke's love story continues, surrounded by murder, mystery, suspense, with a killer who brings to life crimes from a popular writer. As always, J.D. Robb rocks it! This is #46 in the series. You'll definitely want to start with book #1.

Another excellent addition to the world of Eve, Roarke and company - loved Dark in Death.
It is so easy to slip back into the world of Eve and Roarke. Effortless, like sitting down for a visit with old friends, and Dark in Death is no exception to that well established rule. Although it’s become my habit to read the next in Death book on publication day, I’d pre-ordered this one to dive straight into as the premise behind it caught my imagination from the first time I’d read the description a few months back. A writer of police procedural, murder mysteries discovers that her books, or a specific murder from several of her books, is being carried out in real life with chilling efficiency. The parallel was fascinating to me and I anticipated Dark in Death hitting publication day. This one will turn out to be one of my favorites of the series.Going into any great details would be stealing the enjoyment of discovering this case for yourself, but it certainly sent some chills up my spine. There is crazy, then there is bat-crap crazy mixed in with cunning and those make the best cases for Eve and company to solve.Part of the charm, the draw of the in Death world for me is seeing the characters grow and evolve over time. We’ll get a glimpse, or mention, of almost everyone at some point in Dark in Death and that is always a special enjoyment for me. I enjoyed this story, it kept me reading long after I should have been asleep and kept my attention riveted throughout the story. You’ll find no spoilers here for like all in Death stories, it’s up to you to do your own sleuthing along with Eve, Peabody, Roarke and company. But you will find a story to capture your attention, give you a few chuckles, a few tense moments, introduce you to some seriously crazy people and see justice done in the end. And in about a week I’ll go back and give this story a second read to pick up those nuances I probably missed in my desperate need to catch a killer – and I’ll probably enjoy it just a touch more, as usual.Excellent read, tight story, chilling killer, amazing secondary characters who all have their moments to shine. I’d recommend Dark in Death, and the entire series, to any reader who enjoys thrillers, mysteries and putting together the puzzle pieces. Plus, it’s hard to not love Roarke and his Eve.I own a Kindle Copy of this book.

Muito bom
Adoro todos os livros da série. Esse não é o melhor, mas é muito bom, com todos os elementos presentes nos outros livros. Recomendo.

Same old
I’m becoming a little tired of Robb’s rhythm: always the same structure, the same jokes. Anyway, Eve and Roarke rule.

Not one of the better Dallas books
I expected more action and more interaction from the players

Sadly disappointing
For years I have been a massive fan of the in death series. I have read them almost from the beginning and love the fact that they are set in a not too distant future which is far from perfect. The main draw for me was the fact that this made them different to anything else I had ever read. The growing relationship between Eve, Roarke and all those around them has been written so well. However the last few books have started to become a bit duller and this one left me feeling totally disappointed. Someone starts a series of copycat murders from books by a crime author. It's a case of reading the books and narrowing down the possible victims and working out what links them to lead to the killer. There is no sub story, most of the work is done by Eve and Roarke, with the rest of the team being almost sidelined. They hardly set foot inside police headquarters and there is no mention of things being OKed by Whitney or Tibble. There are some "guest" appearances by Mavis, Nadine and others but some of them, particularly Mavis, felt contrived and put in to please fans rather than for the story.Perhaps if someone had not read many of the other books they would still find it a good story but for me, I am going back to reread the earlier ones

Loved it!
Loved it. I used to buy the books when they first came out, but haven’t been able to afford to do that for the past couple of years, so have just released heavy sighs over them instead. I just treated myself to this one as I have just finished reading all of the books up to this point. I have loved the character development, too, over the series as a whole.I found the story line was different in this book to any before and I liked the unexpectedness of who the muderer was and the changes in how the UNSUB killed. I am loving getting to know more about about the other cops in the Department: the ties; the socks; the hat; never bet against Detective Carmichael; and isn’t it great seeing Officer Shelby? Was Mavis’ reason for being in the book for her cameo paperthin? Yes.Do I care? No. It was a delightful vignette that reminded me all I have learnt about Leonardo, Mavis, and the lovely Bella. And, my, isn’t it great that Das is teaching Bella all those new words?! And in such a short space of time?! Hee hee!I enjoyed some parts of the dialogue so much, that I found myself stopping to re-read some parts, just because I enjoyed them so much. That hasn’t happened as many times in one JD Robb book as it has for me in this one.I confess, knowing Nora Roberts has complained in real life about a lot of what some crazed fans do in this book (e.g. send her plot twists, moan about how people either do or don’t get together in the books like we think they should), for me made it funnier as it felt like this book also told me not to get any ideas... and had Eve Dallas say so!I thought this was a great book, and one I will enjoy reading again and again...as I do the rest of the series.I can’t say that JD is back on form, because I don’t believe she ever lost it. This book is one of the slower paced ones, but it didn’t lack anything for that.Oh look, I haven’t read it for an hour... must be time to start it again, then.... ;)
