Installed them in Nov 2025 and haven’t had any issues with them. No false alarms and easy to install. App is user friendly and easy to navigate. The Insurance company approved it as a flood monitoring app. Battery still working. Small pods so you can hide them behind toilets or under furniture.

We bought this Smart Water Leak Detector to replace one that was not working. The GoveeLife was easy to set up on my iPhone (and I'm not the best person following directions). We bought the kit with 5 detectors to put under each sink. I tested one by placing it in a small amount of water and it was very sensitive and emitted an ear piecing sound that could easily be heard in any room. the detectors are small enough to easily fit under a sink or small space. I have one right next to a hot water heater under my kitchen sink (the heater leaked a few years ago and it was a terrible mess). I think this water leak detector will meet our needs and give some peace of mind as far as water leaks. And the price was very reasonable so good value.

This Govee product appears to work as advertised. If you will allow me a few minutes of your time, I will ramble a bit and share my thoughts/experiences with this water leak detector product. I noticed other reviewers have had similar experiences as I. It took me awhile to make everything work (with the help of their customer service), but I finally did. First off, I'm being generous when I say their “user manual” is limited. Manufacturers must be competing to see who can create the smallest manual. Ink and paper must be very expensive, hence the small pages and tiny print. After downloading and installing their app, and paying close attention to the instructions, I managed to get the sensors paired with the gateway. As you add a new sensor, make sure you rename it to something that makes sense to you, like... “hot water heater”. After all the sensors are paired, you will see icons for each sensor when you open the app. Here's what they don't tell you... You MUST enable the gateway AND each individual sensor to send “email” alerts. In the gateway settings page I did turn on the “Email alert” and checked the “Send to account email” box, thinking this would turn on the email alerts. NOT enough. You have to do this for all sensors. Otherwise, no email alerts. Why? I don't know. Would you want some sensors NOT to alert you of a leak? Seems like setting the gateway to send alerts should have been enough. Test all sensors to make sure they are working and you are indeed receiving emails. You can test them by simply wetting your finger tip and wiping the contacts on the top of the sensor. They do make a loud shrill sound. You'll definitely hear it. To stop it, I just wiped the sensor against my shirt until the contacts were dry. Do all this testing in one location, then you can distribute them accordingly. I found an unused, and likely not to be used, outlet location to plug the gateway into. It is somewhat centrally located to all the sensors, and about 25 feet from my wifi router. All my sensors showed four bars of battery strength, except one. It showed only three. I installed new batteries in it to bring it up to four bars. Time will tell how long the batteries actually last. I'll monitor the sensor batteries from time to time, and when they drop to two bars, I may replace all the batteries just to be safe. It will be fun retrieving them given the location of a couple of them... like under the dishwasher and behind the washing machine. After disributing everything, I repeated the "wet finger" test on the sensors to ensure the walls and other stuff didn't interfere with their function. All was well. Now, although I was able to get the email alerts to work, I couldn't get the “text message” alerts to work. No text messages. Then I reached out to the Govee customer service (again), and they helped me. There is another “on” switch in the settings of the sensor called “Message alert”. I just missed it (was looking for a “Text alert”. My bad.) Anyway, after turning this switch on, and entering my cell phone number... it worked! As it turns out, you only have to turn the switch on for one sensor. All the other sensors will automatically be set up. Now... everything works great. Although they state otherwise, this system is working fine on my 5G home network. Also, the little book states “Ensure there are no obstructions between the gateway and the detector”. Don't know about this warning since “walls” and “appliances” would be considered “obstructions”. I have a sensor behind my washing machine, under the kitchen sink, under the dishwasher, and in the basement under the hot water heater. (I haven't placed one behind the refrigerator yet.) There are obviously walls, metal, and distance between the gateway and the sensors, and they all work fine. Now, I want to give a shout out to the Govee customer service team. While trying to get the email/text alerts to work, I exchanged a couple of emails with Mandy, and she was very responsive and courteous. Wish all customer service representatives were this way.

This arrived very quickly and was very easy to setup. Read through the simple instructions, as they are important in ensuring that you can connect to the wifi properly. Was able to set it all up in about 30 minutes including setting up notifications and testing in all locations. Its quite sensitive, just moisten a finger and touch the electrodes and it makes a pretty loud alarm. I like that it has sensor both on the top and bottom. In my house, they are at most about 100 ft away from the main unit, so there was no problem in it quickly detecting and sounding an alarm on the hub, sending alerts on the app, as well as a text message. All within seconds. With 5 sensors, I could place one in every bathroom, kitchen and basement. This should be a straightforward decision to get it right away. An early alert could be the difference between a simple cleanup with a mop, or an expensive repair work for thousands of dollars.

Brilliant invention!! I already have Govee Christmas lights so I decided to try their water sensors. Our sewage lines backed up and we dropped the sensor into the drainpipe with a wire, just under the vented lid. It went off and I could hear it from my upstairs bedroom. It saved us so much time, money, and clean up being able to tackle the issue immediately. What a gift! Plus, after being cleaned and dried, it works again and again. We are putting them under every faucet in the house and under where the outside spigot comes in. Two drops of water and this thing sings like a car alarm and my phone tells me which alarm has gone off.
