The Good, the Bad and the Nitty Gritty
Update- Halloween 2018I did a second application today, I added a tad bit more water. I steeped chamomile tea and calendula tea 2 bags each and I dye released the cassia for about 3 hours. I did not add the olive oil or vitamin e oil till just before application when I added the fourth of a cup of hibiscus oil for extra conditioning. It was an amazing combo my hair this time around did not feel anywhere near as dry as it did when I applied it the first time so for those of you that mention the sandpaper feel your not adding enough water i did and it fixed that. It washed out much easier, my hair is lighter I still conditioned twice to get it all out my hair felt very strong I could tel in the shower while rinsing. I will continue to use this formula it is really working for me. Hibiscus applied just prior to application did not dye release and just provided excellent conditioning. Chamomile and Calendula really highlighted my hair and brought it up two shades.Update- 10/25/18I am updating as promised. I washed my hair this morning two days after I applied the cassia and hibiscus mix, I co-wash and all I can say is...my hair is healed. Immediately, when I was getting it styled I could feel my hair felt heavier, healthier, thicker, stronger and moisturized. There are no more frizzies, they are gone and buried. The initial stiffness I experienced and mistook for possible dry hair and I should add, my hair didn't feel dry at all was really just my hair being zapped with the strength of cassia. The color seems to be stronger today as well the grays have taken a lovely strong gold color. My medium to light brown hair has also obtained some lovely gold highlights and it is lighter at least appears to be. So, all I can say is that I will continue to use this. It is chemical free and colors and conditions like a beast. I also do not think I will change my original mixture much in the future save for the addition of perhaps a bit more water.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Brace yourself because I am going to give it to you straight. Let me just say that I have been a henna user for many, many years and I just recently lightened my hair to blond (no bleach) but lot of dye and my hair was damaged.. That being said...I know how to mix this stuff.First let's start with the Nitty Gritty...Oh my God...I should have known that it was going to be interesting but upon first mixing the cassia and hibiscus powder I had a small clue. It looked like goop. Just goop. I added about two cups of water and about half a bag of the cassia and 5 large spoonfuls of hibiscus powder really which in hindsight for the amount of red I wanted I could have added way more and been fine I was not going to end up super red anyhow. I added about two tablespoons of olive oil and one tablespoon of vitamin e oil. When I applied it, it felt like sand paper, indication number one. Realization...this stuff was NOT getting rinsed off with just water. I didn't care WHAT those instructions said. Also hindsight, needed way, way more oil to it.The Bad- I left it on for three hours and I thought I was going to have a heart attack in the shower. I rinsed with water and massaged my scalp my hair felt so dry and so hard and that was under running water. I was afraid it was going to break off right there and then. I applied my conditioner and I left it on for about three minutes, rinsed and then knew immediately I would need to condition again it was still feeling like it had the cassia in it so I reapplied. The second time it rinsed it felt much better and surprisingly healthy. But, I had a strand of hair that broke off the top, it may have been from previous damage though but still I'm looking like Alfalfa right now and I'm not amused. The Good- Surprisingly, for as dry as it felt my scalp felt like it had been given a ton of oxygen and I can see why many use cassia and hibiscus for hair growth, in fact I believe hibiscus oil is all the rave for this. My hair was straight, like bone straight. I have curly hair y'all, wavy curly hair and my hair was suddenly straight. Ok so color, I was aiming for a light blond with red tones and I got like a dark blond with subtle red not as much as I wanted but its better. My hair did get darker and I'm not really sure how that happened because cassia is not supposed to darken your hair but rather give it highlights so that was startling. But, that's ok I wanted to go darker gradually since I'm trying to grow my natural color out so my roots are less noticeable now. As I styled my hair I noticed the shine was so good and my hair felt so very strong, my styling oils went on real well and for right now my hair feels good and looks good.I have no idea if I am going to wake up looking like Mufasa from the Lion King tomorrow, God I hope not it did dry my hair a lot. I will have to get creative on what I mix this with in the future to make it more conditioning because on its own its just...no. But, I wanted color and chemical free color and that it delivered. It also delivered strength and shine so for me this was a win. I just have to tweak it a bit. Will update in a few days.

Great color and condition!
I've used blonde tint on my dark dishwater blonde hair all my life so that my long thick hair is medium to light blonde. I worry about irritation to my scalp and possible hair loss, so decided to try a henna product. I have white outgrowth (roots) on the top and crown of my head, and grayish brown roots in the back. I LOVE this product and use only this to touch up my roots on the top of my head. Mixed with only lemon juice to a thin yogurt consistency, leaving it on my roots for 2 hours, it completely changes my white roots to blonde...completely. The last hour I cover the rest of my hair (outer layer) with the cassia to enhance the color and condition my already blonde (from processing over the years )hair so it blends. HOWEVER, this product will not lighten or change the color of my gray/brown outgrowth; so I still have to use a regular blonde tint on the roots of the rest of my head. So, My hair project takes a few hours each month. First, i make 1/4 inch parts all over the back and lower sides of my head (NOT where I have white outgrowth), then apply blonde tint to the outgrowth only, and leave it on 30 minutes or so according to directions. Then I wash and dry my hair. Next I mix the Cassie with lemon juice and let it sit about a half hour. Then I make narrow parts on the top of my head, then apply the cassia henna to the roots on top and crown of my head with a thin paint brush. Letting it sit for an hour, the mixture cools my scalp. After an hour passes, I paint the remaining henna over my entire outer layers of hair, roots to end, let it sit for another hour, and wash completely. It's time consuming but perfect for me.

LOVE this!
THIS STUFF MADE MY HAIR FEEL AMAZING! My hair was really dry and damaged from straightening my hair, and trying to lighten my henna with Vitamin C treatments. I was growing out my naturally blonde hair because I went way to orangey with henna, I had about 2 and a half inches of regrowth. My regrowth was SO soft, but the rest of my hair was pretty blah. You mix this up just like henna, except I made it a bit more drippy, and just saturate your hair as best you can. I left it in for a few hours and it washed out pretty quickly and it didn't stain anything. My hair was shiny and soft after. I just wish the effects lasted longer haha. I would totally recommend this to anyone. Even if you chemically dye your hair, this would be a great boost for your hair and to bring some health back into it. You can mix conditioner in, i used my Cholesterol hair treatment conditioner as well as some castor, Jojoba and coconut oil. Remember this has NO color to it, so no matter what color you've dyed your hair, this wont effect the color. There was enough powder with the mixture I made, so I was able to freeze some for future use. I can't wait to do another treatment, and will probably leave it in overnight.
