"What's that guy doing—he doesn't even have a rod?"
This weekend I grabbed my Yoyito reel and a little plastic bag of soft plastic lures and went to the lake by my house. There was a gang of foul-mouthed teenagers there, and when they saw me walk up to the dock, I heard one of them snicker: "What's that guy doing? He doesn't even have a rod!" The joke was on them though, because 20 minutes later I hauled this 17" largemouth bass out of the water, using nothing but some 6 lbs. mono line, a good hook and a watermelon-green fluke. I *love* my Yoyito reel—it's the only gear I've used all season. I value simple tools, well made, and the Yoyito is a beautiful example of that philosophy. When I go to the lake, I bring my Yoyito, a few high-quality hooks in different sizes, a handful of small weights, maybe a little float, and a small bag of bait or plastics, depending what fish I'm after. It definitely puts you on a more equal footing with the fish, which for me is a lot more fun. The design and execution on this thing is perfect. The polished aluminum casts like a dream. I can cast an unweighted lure 30 yards without any trouble. It packs up into a tiny little pouch that fits in my front pocket. My favorite thing about the Yoyito is how it forces you to stop obsessing about "gear," and focus on learning the fundamentals of fishing: Reading the lake to find the fish, choosing the right bait, presenting the bait well. Even if you mostly use a rod and reel, the Yoyito will make you a better fisherman.

Thank you for fast shipping before the economic shutdown!
Thank you so much, can’t wait to try this thing. Tried it out in the back yard, and casting it out takes a bit of practice, but I got a good cast on my second try. Now to try it out in ocean. Nice and portable, with a cool carry case

Yoyito Took The Handline Reel to a New Level
I bought the freshwater model with the black storage bag but since the reels are exactly the same the review fits this one as well. This little hand line reel is only 3.5" diameter and right at 13/16" (.8125") deep. This size information was not in the item description when I purchased it. The size info is important because it lets you know just how pocket-able this little reel is. The size of the reel is the same on the front side and the back side and at the time of this review, both saltwater and freshwater reels are the same size. The only differences between freshwater and saltwater versions is the line weight and the terminal tackle included. The reel is made of finely machined aircraft grade aluminum with a beautiful gold anodized finish. The open side where the line comes off during casting is glassy smooth making it perfect for casting lighter lures and it also reduces line wear. Even with it's tiny size, it can still be cast a long way. I have been on the fence about buying a hand line reel for around a year before I saw this listed on Amazon and I managed to order the last two Amazon had in stock. I was very happy I didn't miss out!!! The freshwater model comes spooled with high grade 20# test mono-filament line and some hooks and sinkers for bait fishing. The hooks and sinkers were packed in a very nice little pull-string bag. I ALMOST never fish with anything other than artificial baits (lures) so all I will use from the included tackle is the bag itself. For my use, 20# test is way too heavy so I took it off and replaced with approximately 200 yards of 8# test P-Line C21 so it would cast light lures farther. The weight lures I will use with this would be between 1/8 oz. and 1/4 oz. and I will be using it for sand bass and crappie which generally don't get big enough to need heavier line. I have been using 4# test on my ultra lite spinning reels for several years and it's an extreme rarity to have my line broken by a fish so even with no drag control, I feel perfectly confident with 8# test on the hand line reel. I'm actually going to put 6# test on the second one. I also fitted it with a nice adjustable lanyard so I could tether it to my wrist to prevent the possibility of the reel going overboard. While thinking about buying a hand line reel and combing the internet, I often wondered why some manufacturer did not take this more seriously and make a true pocket-able and well made reel. As soon as I saw these on Amazon I knew this was exactly what I was looking for and I have no disappointment with it in any respect. Virtually all other models that I could find are made of plastic or a combination of some sort of rubber and plastic. ALL were much bigger than I wanted. None I could find were pocket size. There is a collapsible model you can find right here on Amazon that I actually considered but when I watched a video on it's use where the manufacturer recommends you wet the spool before casting to make the line slide off easier I realized it was not only way bigger than I wanted but probably wouldn't cast a 1/8 oz. lure well if at all. I also look at the need to wet the spool as a SERIOUS deign flaw. This little aluminum Yoyito reel and light line can cast an 1/8" lure just fine without the need to wet anything. I primarily fish with rod and reel. I always keep a couple of rods with ultra-lite spinning reels in my car and that won't be changing. The little Yoyito reel is something I wanted just to hand line fish when the mood strikes me. I've only had it on the water one time and didn't try it until about 20 minutes before heading to shore. Even in that short amount of time I managed to learn how to cast it proficiently and even managed to catch one small crappie and one small sand bass on a 3/16 oz blade lure. If you are thinking of buying a hand line reel, I'd say look no further and buy a Yoyito. You simply won't find another brand even close to this quality at ANY price. I can honestly state without any reservation that the aluminum Yoyito is the finest hand line reel in the world.

Good quality hand line and a very good kit
Just received my second yoyito, very happy as i knew i would be, i only wish there was more colours/materials available, not a fan of gold anodising and the two in black i bought are nice, but if they did some in polished brass, or dark purple anodising i'd buy i'd buy more of them in a heartbeat, so ill keep checking in the hope they stock up some different options in the future.

Magnifico
Sent from Florida,USA,Tuesday, midnight local time. Arrived 9 am Friday GMT, in my fishing backwater of the Isle of Wight.U.K. Cant beat that for service. This guy is good, and Fed Ex nailed it. Pocket goodness.Bushcrafters and hikers rejoice. All you catapult moochers ;) take heed. So lined for 20lb is good for me,i live on the beach. We have bass, flattys etc. However the estuaries hold a lot of mullet. I will mooch the surf and rocks for bass and also bread float the mullet in the estuary. That doesn't mean the woodies are safe at the flood tide. Get out side early!
