Quality Product, Worthy Addition to Your Kitchen
Most affordable option I could find, for the quantity. I use a lot of spices, and I was very interested to try grains of paradise. The smell when I opened the bag was light but nice and earthy; and it was very easy to grind it in my spice mill, releasing that wonderful woodsy aroma of pepper and cardamom with a hint of citrus. I love it on grilled fruits and vegetables, or mashed potatoes. No doubt would make a nice meat rub too; I plan to try it soon. I also recently bought guarana seeds from Burma Spice; I've been very satisfied with their products so far.

This is a great spice, I have interstitial cystitis and cannot have pepper. After much research I found this was a substitute and it has been such a wonderful replacement. It has the flavor of pepper without the irratant. I honestly think it taste better than peppercorn. I actually was watching a new episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and a chef actually preferred using grains of paradise over black pepper. The only negative thing I have to say is that it is very course so when purchasing I would recommend buying a good grinder so that you don't have big chunks in your recipe.

Move Over Pepper Mill
The trust that chef Alton Brown's culinary skills have earned with me were cause for me to follow his suggestion in acquiring this amazing spice: Grains of Paradise, aka Amomum melegueta from Africa. While it is pepper-like, to compare it to pepper is like comparing drip maxwell house coffee to a fine freshly roasted vintage coffee brewed in a french-press. This spice is complex, with a pepper flavor followed by gentle nuances of allspice, clove, cinnamon, and cardamom. I purchased a nice OXO Good Grips pepper mill to dedicate to these Grains of Paradise. The amazing flavor of this spice is most worthy of having a dedicated ceramic grinder-mill and a place on the dinner table. Move over pepper mill, there is a new spice in town!

Great product!
What a fantastic find! I was looking to try some new flavors and this seller had what I needed. The spice has great flavor and seems fresh as the flavor is intense freshly ground. I will happily purchase from this seller again.

Must have
Very good. A little like pepper with an earthier tone. Mild flavor great on everything. A must have for the cook who likes a variety in the spice cabinet.

This was my first experience trying Grains of Paradise, and so far I'm impressed. The grains are smaller than a typical peppercorn, but my Kuhn Rikon pepper grinder had no trouble or need for adjustment to grind these up and use just like pepper. The flavor isn't as sharp or intense as black pepper, but it does have a greater depth of flavor while maintaining a smooth spiciness. I can't compare to other Grains of Paradise suppliers/brands, but if you're like me and are curious enough to try a pepper-alternative spice, definitely give it a shot.
