Would these work on a king size bed?

I would not recommend that, likely the weight of you on the bed would break the pegs off. I dont mean ANY disrespect to that, but my husband and I had this issue. He weights about 200 and me about 140lbs. These are made more for chairs and sofas.

Be glad you have the straight ones. The angled ones don't end up at the right angle.

No, they are nearly flush to the fixture. The only separation is the bracket you attach to the fixture that the legs screw into.
