It’s a pretty small book but has some great recipes inside. My husband recognize some of the recipes immediately. Some I’ve made before getting the book so there was already some history with half the book. The presentation of some of the dishes in this book are just lovely. Can’t wait to make my husband feel at home with some of these dishes!!

Wonderful recipe book for Russian recipes

It's a good recipe book
It's a good recipe book. I'm originally from Russia but I've lived outside for a long time. Now I live in Asia and this book allows me to ask my maid (who doesn't speak Russian) to cook something from the Russian cuisine (although I don't recognize some dishes but they are still very nice). Also, as it has illustrations, it helps my maid to know what the final product should look like.

Nice Intro
I haven’t tried any of these recipes yet but I truly enjoyed the intro and the little blurbs on each recipe. I highly recommend it just for the culture.

Great Russian Cookbook!
Bought this book so I could try some simple Russian cooking! Such a great cookbook and am looking forward to trying everything!

First lets understand that most Russian food is not the food of Tsars,it is the food of people living north of the 51st latitude (so its cold - a lot), the growing seasons are short and winters long - so recipes have to make filling meals. This book provides 25 delicious dishes that will take you into the heart of Russian food, with no difficult to find ingredients. Blinis, pelmeni, fish, borscht to beef stroganoff and chicken kiev. Delightful, easy instructions and delicious outcomes.

We bought this for a Russian Orthodox friend to help her celebrate her Christmas. It's a neat, colourful little volume, full of good ideas, excluding turkey.

Buy with caution, this book should have been revalued for it's confusing recipes. Hard to follow and frankly it's not a serious cook book. It's something you'd give to a friend as a novelty.

Not what I expected,very small book, I suppose the clue is in the "25 recipes" which I should have picked up on.
