Team The Pastega Family Skout Organic consists of brothers and father; Jason, Tony, and Denny Pastega. Jason and Tony grew up in Tillamook, Oregon, an area known for its connection to the land and abundance of outdoor activities [not to mention its cheese]. Denny also owns a local gourmet food store which he founded in 1979, so for Jason, Tony and Denny enjoying quality food has been a way of life. Both Jason and Tony graduated from Oregon State University and call Portland, Oregon home. Blessed with the perfect basecamp to launch their adventures, the Pastega family spends the seasons enjoying the beauty and activities of the Oregon Coast, Coastal Mountain Range, Columbia River Gorge, and the Cascade Mountain Range. Jason’s yellow Labrador and fellow adventure seeker, Scout, was the inspiration for the name of their company. Years later and disappointed with existing energy and nutrition bars filled with high-fructose corn syrup and artificial ingredients, Jason wanted a trailbar that was healthy, organic, and all-natural. So in 2008, Jason put his favorite organic ingredients into a kitchen mixer and spread his first bars with a rolling pin. Six months later Skout Trailbars were born. Skout Organic combines the Pastega Family’s passion for the outdoors and excitement for creating great tasting, healthy foods. The quality of life in the Pacific Northwest is special and it will remain so only by becoming stewards of the land as well as by fostering a growing, responsible and sustainable local economy. They feel very fortunate and honored for the opportunity to give back to the local community. Scout Scout was Jason's beloved yellow labrador, and the inspiration for his company name. Jason adopted Scout when she was six years old, and the pair spent seven years together exploring Oregon's beaches, scenic trails, and rivers. While Scout passed away in 2011, her memory remains strong! In creating Skout Organic, Jason did not want to completely exploit his four legged friend. Therefore he altered the spelling of her name, to protect her identity.
