'Way beyond Mylar - glad I have it
Not a fashion item by any means, but (in my opinion) essential if you might get stuck in freezing temps and risk hypothermia. It's a tightly-packed brick that opens into a large "pullover"-style (no front opening) lightweight thermal jacket and hood, with elasticized bottom and large transparent plastic sleeves. The object is to protect your body's core temp while still giving you range of arm motion. You also can hunker down, seated, and have it cover more of your lower body. The core-covering material is much sturdier than the usual mylar (it expands in thickness as it absorbs air) and it's reusable. As with all items like this: After opening/using it once you'll never be able to pack it down to a small brick again, but it's light and I repacked it to about 6" x 5" x 3".I haven't used it in a blizzard yet but tried it on and was superwarm almost immediately. Which is fine: I bought it expressly because I've had hypothermia in the past and I know that -- for me -- emergency blankets and bivies are limited. I needed something that I could stash in my vehicle or pack and that would provide good core coverage even if I were upright and walking. This does the job.

I am happy with it
I haven't used this yet, but I have used the single layer Mylar Blanket and the single layer Mylar Sleeping bag and was very impressed with those. So I can just imagine how well this triple layer Mylar Survival Jacket will work. I have this and the Blizzard Survival Blanket as well for my Car Kit, and I plan on buying the Blizzard Survival Sleeping bag as well. I haven't used this yet and don't plan to until I have a break-down in extreme cold. I know that we have all left home in comfortable clothing only to find later after a cold front came through that you didn't bring enough warm clothing. That it what this it for, it comes in small packing and it is there when you need it.

Packed too small to leave behind
This is something I ordered to test out how much insulation it would add all by itself. It will keep you alive and your core body temperature up no matter what else you have with you. It is packaged in a sealed bag so small that you can't afford to not stash one of these for every family member in every vehicle you have.
