Great flexibility for use
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Worked well. Suction was good. Was able to get into all the corners. Like that it comes with a lot of accessories and can be used as a filter using the suction cup base or to create a little shower area. I do wish the design was better when using as a vacuum. The handle is long and the cup with the filter sponge is positioned far up the handle so when I was moving the vacuum around the tank, that cup was hitting the sides of the tank or top screen which was interfering with the direction I wanted to go. Because the motor must be submerged to work, I was very mindful to angle the handle downward because my turtle tank does not have a lot of water so holding the handle upright was not possible because the motor would be partially out of the water. After I'm more comfortable with it, I'll allow some of the motor casing to go above the waterline because I think they're saying not to let the vacuum suck air & keep the nozzle under water. Other users mentioned the on/off switch on the power cord is very close to the plug making it difficult to reach to turn off without accidentally allowing the motor above the water. I used an extension cord so i had the switch right in front of me but could see how hard it would be to hold the handle, keep the motor submerged, all while reaching for the switch to shut off. The return tube is made of a good, solid rubbery sort of material that sank easily & was really long. The filter sponge was easy to access & clean and appeared to catch all the debris that was sucked up. It seemed a little pricey but at least it does the job. I read some reviews about poor suction and noticed the uptake was less powerful after a few minutes on 1st use. So I stopped to clean the filter (which didn't look clogged to me) and when I restarted, the suction was back and I didn't experience a problem afterwards. Maybe it is a priming issue? I was impressed with how great the tank looked after using this vacuum. I would recommend this vacuum. Even with a water filter running, a separate vacuum really is desirable and this is one you should consider.

Stopped working on first use, JUNK!
Junk!! I was excited to get this to help the water changes for my 55 gallon aquarium. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the poorly written instructions. It was really badly written. I assembled it and gave it a try. I was able to remove 15 gallons and only able to add 5 back in before it quit working. All it would do is hum. I tried turning off and back on with still no luck. I felt the bottom where the pump was and there was absolutely no suction. I did not use it to vacuum the substrate, so I know nothing was stuck in the motor. I sadly will be returning it.

Could be better
It definitely does the job in cleaning out a fish tank The suction isn't really the best or as strong as advertised but it does get a job done.

Great tank cleaner!
I use this electric gravel cleaner on my 36-gallon bow-front tank, and it’s made routine maintenance much easier. The suction is strong enough to clean the gravel without disturbing the setup, and the water change function makes draining simple and no more hauling buckets. It’s surprisingly good for the price, with solid build quality and features like sand washing and circulation that actually work well. Setup was quick, and it saves me a lot of time every week.

STOPPED WORKING
3 months and it has stopped working. It’s very expensive for it to have randomly stopped working like this. It worked good in the beginning. We have done less than 10 water changes.

powerful cleaner
I ordered this electric aquarium vacuum thinking it was much smaller than it turned out to be. I think I intended to get the cheaper, smaller option but ended up with this red one. However, after seeing its size and power, I'm pivoting its use. It's too strong for a tank with delicate invertebrates like mine, but it will be really good for a general fish tank. The suction is quite powerful, and it will be excellent for water transfers, making changes much quicker. It has a lot of functions, and for its size, it feels like a decent value, especially compared to manual siphons. Just...not for what I needed at the time.

STOPPED working after using for 5 minutes.
It did randomly stop working after using it for 5 minutes. Fidgeted with the motor for a few minutes and eventually got it running again. Worried it’s gonna stop functioning if I use it again. Save your money and get a better one.
