I love this album! I love all my gospel albums by secular artists, but Johnny Cash has a distinctive sound that hits you deep, especially if you know the man's journey to Jesus. If you're a Johnny Cash fan, and especially if you are a Christian, you will love this album! I also recommend the Christian albums of Aretha Franklin, Dion DiMucci, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and BJ Thomas. Looking forward to Christian albums by other secular-to-Christian artists like Eric Clapton, Alice Cooper, and Iron Maiden.

I'm rebuilding my Cash collection on CD from mainly discarded vinyl years ago - (amongst other artists - so many so few bucks.) This contains, like three previously unreleased tracks which is kind of cool. This is Cash - pure and pure. Yeah, you can call it gospel but above all - it's Cash gospel as opposed to traditional gospel. First there are 24 tracks and that's pretty unusual. Cash + 24 + gospel = order now. Traditionally well known anthems/gospels such as: Swing Low Sweet Chariot, How Great Thou Art, Peace In The Valley, In The Sweet By & By, It's No Secret What God Can Do, Amazing Grace - (have you bought it yet?)Add on: Daddy Sang Bass with the terrific backing of the Statler Brothers and a gripping: Were You There When They Crucified My Lord? There are many great cuts here such as: It Was Jesus and He Turned The Water Into Wine. Listen, if you don't usually get into gospel but you like Cash - get this. If you like gospel and Cash you must buy this. I highly recommend this to all because it's not run of the mill same ole same ole gospel music. It's Cash, it's ultimate, it's fantastic and one of his very best albums.

Great CD with good song choices and the man in black

I was listening to Johnny Cash singing "Daddy Sang Bass" one evening and thought that I would like to listen to some more of his gospel music. I chose this CD and I am so glad that I did. The first selection is a reading of "There Was A Man" and it will make goosebumps rise on your arms when you listen to it. The second selection features the Reverend Billy Graham along with Johnny Cash. This CD is by far my favorite at this time. I generally love to listen to contemporary Praise and Worship music, but once I started to listening to the traditional country sounds and deep voice of Johnny Cash on this CD, I was spellbound. This is a heartfelt collection and a glorious praise to Jesus Christ, Our Lord!

The sound is unmistakable: the simple boom-chuck twangy guitar of Johnny Cash, and his gravel hard voice. If you like Johnny Cash and especially if you like Christian praise music, you have to get this album.But this is not exactly what I expected. Doesn't matter, I love it. I thought there would be primarily the classic gospel songs, mostly of African-American origin, but it is instead a very interesting mix of old time gospel and more modern songs. The newer songs are fantastic and I've begun working some of them out. This is going to give me many hours of pleasure.

This CD contains all the old gospel songs, that have long been lost in hearing. Johnny Cash's voice adds to the beauty of the songs. CD is clear to hear the songs.
