SUPER heavy-weight (230 gsm) acid-free stock with beautiful, crisp, very slightly aged, gicleé artwork. 12"w x 21"h. Unless you wish to pay much more for a true letterpress print, this is the highest quality version of this poster available... a true art piece made to last a lifetime. Don't pay more for a poorly made, lightweight copy. POSTER INFO: The inspiration to the Beatles to write the song, "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite" was a 19th-century circus poster for Pablo Fanque's Circus Royal appearance at Rochdale. John Lennon purchased the poster in an antique shop on 31 January 1967, while the Beatles were filming the promotional videos for "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" in Sevenoaks, Kent. Lennon claimed years later to still have the poster in his home. "Everything from the song is from that poster," he explained, "except the horse wasn't called Henry." (The poster identifies the horse as "Zanthus".) "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" is credited to Lennon–McCartney, but Lennon said he had written it entirely himself. McCartney disagrees; in a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he said: "I read, occasionally, people say, 'Oh, John wrote that one.' I say, 'Wait a minute, what was that afternoon I spent with him, then, looking at this poster?' He happened to have a poster in his living room at home. I was out at his house, and we just got this idea, because the poster said 'Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite' – and then we put in, you know, 'there will be a show tonight,' and then it was like, 'of course,'… The song just wrote itself. So, yeah, I was happy to kind of reclaim it as partially mine.'" Mr. Kite is believed to be William Kite, who worked for Pablo Fanque from 1843 to 1845. Pablo Fanque was the Victorian circus owner, who employed William Kite in the 1840s.

John Lennon Would approve
I received this as a gift to go with my collection of Beatles things and I could not be happier. If you don't know the back story behind this poster or are familiar with the song, I highly recommend a few minutes googling it. I'm excited to finally get this hanging on the wall next to my replica of Paul's bass and Ringo's drumhead.

Perfect compliment to my hanging albums
I bought some frames which are designed to fit vinyl album covers from my record collection. This circus poster is the perfect companion to my Sgt Pepper album, hanging next to it. Love the story.

This replica of the poster that John Lennon bought which inspired him to write the lyrics of the song Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite from the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is a great addition to any Beatles collection. I gave it as a gift and the recipient was thrilled!

Damaged
Product appears to have been rolled and placed in what was essentially a toilet paper roll. Was crushed during shipping so the poster is riddled with creases that will not come out. An emphasis on better packing materials should be made. (Plastic or a more thick cardboard material) $20 wasted.Has the shipping not been an atrocity, product seems decent.
