I like bucket hats for outdoor wear for several reasons
I got this hat from Amazon recently and have worn it on several hikes. It arrived flat in a plastic bag which was not a problem at all as it popped into shape upon wearing. I like bucket hats for outdoor wear for several reasons. The down-turned brim is not as affected by wind as other styles and provides good sun coverage for the size of the brim. and they are usually crushable like this one for easy storage in a pocket or pack. This hat from Sunday Afternoons has several features that make it a fine example of a bucket hat. It is made in Vietnam. I am an avid hiker and backpacker and have noticed that a lot of high end gear from respected companies such as Osprey is made in Vietnam, so the Vietnam label is usually an indication of high quality. It is made out of nylon which means it won't shrink and will dry fast. It has vent material on the top of the crown which lets out heat in hot weather. It has a cinch strap on the back which allows it to be tightened up for a more refined fit. It has a neck strap so it won't get blown off in the wind. I am a man, my hat is size 7 1/2, or somewhere thereabouts, I normally wear large and the size large of this hat fits me perfectly. And finally sometimes I am teased by my hiking buddies about the dorkiness of my hiking hats, but the general consensus about this hat seems to be that it looks like a hiking hat but isn't that dorky.

Good travel hat, nice styling
I bought this hat for an extended vacation trip to Southeast Asia where packing space was at a premium. It worked fine for sun protection on extended hikes with limited shade at locations such as Angkor Wat. It is packable and easily fit into one of the outside compartments of my small day bag. The ventilated construction also helped with the humidity, and the chinstrap was essential on some of the open air transportation modes we took. It laundered well in a lingerie bag in the washing machine and regained its shape when dry. I ordered my usual hat size and found that this one fit just a little snug around the top of my forehead, not really uncomfortable but I would have preferred a slightly looser fit and would recommend ordering the next size up if available. I gave it four stars instead of five because of the slightly snug fit, and also because the brim is somewhat narrower than I expected, such that the hat provides inconsistent protection of nose and neck areas if you are doing something really active in the sun.

Love this hat
Great hat for golf. I have a small head and love that you can adjust the hat to make it smaller

I doubt the top part of the hat is upf 50
The major con I have with this hat is the top part (sans the rim) is very thin and see through. I doubt it has much upf protection. The top of my forehead isn't getting protection so that is the major design flaw. I wear sunscreen but still I also want the top of my forehead to be protected in the case I can't reapply. The rim is not see through so I know the lower part of my forehead/eye area are protected.I like the style of the hat. Tbh it's not really the exact style of a normal bucket hat but I don't mind. I prefer the longer rim that this hat has because more shade/protection.

Super Cute and Provides Great Sun ProtectionT
This is a great brand (Sunday Afternoons) and is worth every penny. It is a great value considering the quality of the hats and lifetime guarantee! This bucket hat is really functional AND stylish - this one looks less like a camping expedition hat (I own two of those!) and more of a beach hat, which is more "street friendly". :)

My Favorite (sun) Hat.
I own many sun hats. This one is more protective than most. The wide, slightly downturned brim shape provides superior shade. It also provides some resistance to blowing off in moderate conditions because the wind has to strike at more of an upward angle to lift it off. But it definitely can blow off in a strong wind and an adjustable chinstrap is there when needed. Otherwise the strap can be tucked up above the brim. This hat is very light in weight.I like the venting mesh around the top of the hat where there is much less chance of sunburn than with full coverage mesh. Heat can escape out the top and breezes make their way in. But the venting also makes it a less effective rain hat.The New Sunday Afternoons Solar Hat arrived with no folds and in my opinion, looks better than most others of its type. The shape, trimming and mesh make for a really nice looking casual hat. That's why I would hate to fold it for travel. I like it so much I bought two and if I ever need to fold one flat, I'll still have the other.

Great looking & quality but there are room for improvement
Hat would be perfect if the chinstrap is removable and use toggle style for size adjustment. Otherwise the hat is well made, nice looking. I ended up returning the hat.

Light as a feather. Good price, durable, washable, packable, crush proof. I like the chin strap for windy days.
