the Sharks actually look real!!
I normally am put off by a lot of shark horrors as I find in many of them the Sharks look extremely fake and it takes the whole point of the film (which is to be scary) away. However this one won't disappoint any shark horror geek like myself. There is real footage of the sharks throughout the film and they way they have film each shark scene makes the Sharks look like they are really close to the swimmers which is tense yet exciting to watch. Would recommend

A real shark experience
Very well made film and loved that it was Australian. The acting was of a very high standard which made the story believable and so realistic. It made you think too. I have swum on the reef (not with sharks about, thankfully) and I relived that but with real dread. The fear factor was so genuine and lifted the film above the usual shark drama. I am very glad I did my swimming before I saw this film - otherwise I might never have been brave enough to go. Thoroughly entertaining.

One of those films where you just have to shout "it's behind you"
I'm not usually into shark movies ( I think the last one I saw was when jaws came out ) but this caught my eye one night just as I was going to bed. I saw the beginning on TV but had to turn it of to go to bed so was left wondering what on earth the outcome was. I searched everywhere for a copy and eventually found this one on Amazon. I wasn't disappointed. It's one of those films where you just have to scream it's behind you. I was on the edge of my seat a few times as well. It starts off where a group of friends are on a day trip out when their boat capsizes, they have 2 options stay and maybe drown or swim and be chased by a shark. They all but one decide to swim and that's when it gets interesting. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Unually gripping watery movie
Fantastic film if you love shredding your nerves as poor folk get gobbled up by sharks. Far better than Adrift (no sharks, just the suggestion of one) . Awesome ending too, just when you think it'll end ok .....

Don't watch before going on a boating holiday!
Really enjoyed this film. The storyline was gripping and the acting superb. For people who're a bit squeamish, this is okay to watch as there isn't too much blood and gore - but excitement and edge-of-your-seat thrills from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone who enjoyed Jaws and similar films. Good value entertainment.

A thoroughly good watch (if you're not afraid of the water, that is!!)
The DVD is based on a true story - and on a subject I find fascinating. I have watched this several times now and I truly feel the director has produced this in such a way that there is no gratuitous mauling, it is done in quite a subtle way. This, I feel, adds to the film and makes it more enjoyable. The actual shark footage is excellent and the way they have then edited the shark footage to the actual film was very well done.I have not seen any of the actors in the film before (or since!) but that is often the way with these sorts of films but nevertheless it does not detract from the film at all.

No escape!!!
As I sit watching this movie I am suddenly struck at how well this movie was made. The music really works to keep you on the edge of your seat. The acting is superb, you can really feel the terror from the girls and the nervousness of the guys even though they are putting on a brave face really well. Using a real shark makes it that more thrilling because the actors could really be that close to the great white, and the reactions from the cast really help you get into the film. Really recommend it. The shark attacks are really well done too. I chose the title because there really is no escape. They are in the middle of the ocean entirely at the mercy of the shark who is stalking them. Get this movie, if you dare!

The Reef [DVD]
I think the tension and the acting in this movie is better than the great film, JAWS.Your always on the edge of your seat while there treading water.I've watched it about 5 times now and still think its very under rated for a movie of this nature.Great Aussi movie at its best with natural and believable acting.
