with the built in microphone, there is a background buzz, other then buzz, it does pick up decent soundchanged from 3 to 4 stars because i found out that when using a plug in microphone most of the buzz went away. with my lavelier microphone i had to use the pc adapter to get it to work, since my lavalier microphone is made for phones, and you have to go into settings to set it to record from the line in microphone rather then the built in microphone.i found the menu easy enough to navigate it feels solid, you can shut off the recording light if you want, it does have a line in port and a headphone port, i have a password code set up, it has all the features i want, i do wish the built in microphone would pick up silent sounds without the background buzz, i am sure if there is enough sound when you do record that the buzz will be masked but if you record in a quiet situation and don't want a light buzz humming in the background make sure to use a microphone. i plan on trying other microphones as well.

Ever since I found out I was an auditory learner, I knew I needed someway to record my lectures and notes. While I could use the recording feature on my cellphone, I worried about taking up too much space and looking unprofessional in class by fiddling with my phone. Luckily this device has helped me ace my quizzes and tests by capturing everything my lecturers say! I had a little trouble figuring out that I needed to switch between the MP3/4 mode to the DVR mode, but other than that it is really simple to use. I recommend anyone who is an auditory learner (or anyone who has to sit through lectures with boring/too fast speakers) to get one!

don't waste your money like me. It only serves as an extra microphone if you're already using your phone, sound quality is not going to be much better. It's nice looking and feels good to the touch. Designed well in terms of built and functionality, but sound could be much better for the price.

I purchased it along with a telephone recording ear piece device.The sound came out very clearThis little gadget will pick up sounds even in the next room.Good things come in small packages so, they say. Like a Diamond.And this recorde,r is surely a Gem!!!

I had bought the larger version of this for my singing niece, so I knew it would be of the utmost quality, and I was correct! Line in audio recording is AMAZING!!! I record myself during performances so I can keep ideas, and work on my issues!

I bought this to record my voice. It good for taking notes and downloading music but that's it. I wouldn't use it for recording quality stuff.
