95% is direct quotes from previous books
This book will be a welcome addition to the shelves of die-hard Mitford fans, of which I am one, but be warned: 95% of this book is material, quoted verbatim, from previous Mitford books. Outside of Karon's foreword and a brief sentence of two introduction of each chapter, it's all material from the other books. Now, I love Mitford, but this bothered me a teeny bit. Essentially, you are paying for a hardcover book that you've already read. Karon is leaving Mitford, a fact for which I am deeply saddened, so I suppose this is her going out, so to speak. I still wished I'd known this before I purchased the book. It still garners 4 stars cause it's ….well, MITFORD!

Welcome Home!
Welcome home to Mitford and the heartfelt prayer life of "Father Tim Kavanagh"! I adore this compilation of prayers and moments from the Mitford series and will soon be underlining, dog-earring and highlighting each passage that touched my heart. Tears will flow by page 4 (!) as Jan's testimony sheds light on her God-filled purpose all captured in the setting of a small town and a priest with a big heart. Thrilled to have this all in one beautiful book!

This compilation was a great re-read of some of my favorite parts of the Mitford series.
Jan Karon never disappoints. I have read the entire series several time and this compilation is a way to do a quick re-read of some of my favorite parts. However, as a note to the editor, page 221 of my book is missing. I preordered, so I know my copy was an early printing. The book is missing page 221 and has an acknowledgment page instead of page 221. It resumes on page 222 and continues to the end, which concludes with a second identical acknowledgment page. As an owner of the entire Mitford series, I wish my copy of the new book was complete. But it did not take away from my enjoyment of the overal read. (And I will forever wonder what is on page 221!

The Blessings Continue
I bought this book only because I have all of Jan Karon’s Mitford books. But, I wasn’t expecting it to be as God affirming & as much of a blessing to me as her others had been, so many years ago. Before I opened it & began reading, I had flipped through it briefly, deciding it was one of those “Daily Devotionals” with a scripture & a little story to go with it. I hadn’t read my Mitford books in years. I had forgotten what happened when reading them. This little red book sat by my bed, patiently waiting. Finally, tonight, I decided to stop looking at YouTube videos & read the first devotional. I didn’t expect much. Silly me!From the moment I started to read page one, I felt God’s grace & mercy sweep over me & through me, in the same way it did with the Mitford books, all those years ago. Tears welled up in my eyes & I cried as I read. I do not understand why this happens with Jan Karon’s books. I can read the Bible without tears. So why with these? All I know is that it happens. And, it’s a good feeling. Somewhat like a cleansing. But also showing me how close God really is.And, I’m very grateful for it. I sure needed it!So, thank you Jan Karon. And, may God bless you.Your books have helped me through some difficult times in the past. And for some reason, (mysterious to me), when I read your books, I feel God’s Holy Spirit, flooding through me.It’s a wonderful feeling!

Bathed in Prayer, Indeed
Another reading joy from Ms Karon! Thank you, thank you many times over for this lovely time together with my old friends from Mitford. Like a visit you never want to end, i fear with every one of your books, that the end has come and i never wanted to say goodbye..I pray you continue writing until the Lord returns!

Great, fast service !
I was delighted that my book arrived so quickly. It was packed amazingly well and arrived in great shape. Just the sort of book I need to keep me cozy on a chilly night with a cup of tea alongside me. (Too bad I didn't bake "Esther's Orange Marmalade Cake ' -- a classic in 'Mitford' -- that would make for a perfect evening with a great book !)
