My fault for not reading reviews
I should have looked at the pictures in the reviews, because I probably wouldn't have gotten this. I was hoping for a really good coffee table type of book (like the L.M. Montgomery Album which is massive), and this is more of the kind of book you'd give as a birthday gift for a young fan of the Little House books.I will say that it's nicely put together and what's in there is interesting, there's just not enough of it.

Laura's Album is Fantastic
Our 11-year-old granddaughter absolutely loves everything about Laura Ingalls Wilder. She has viewed every episode of Little House on the Prairie at least two or three times. She has read the Wilder books upon which the TV show is based. She was thrilled by Laura's Album, when we presented it to her as a gift.

Great Visuals; Other Content Wanting
4 stars, not for the length (it's a scrapbook, not a photograph/memory book, so I get it), but for the information provided.I loved the images of different paraphernalia relating to LIW: letters, notes, journal entries, articles, news clippings, ads, plaques, and more.- The handwriting was beautiful in the notes.- I LOVED seeing original art from the first edition books. But the very condensed bio is based a bit more on the books than on the truth. There is mention of how well Laura and Rose got along, when their relationship was strained. And Anderson contradicts himself on the same page--he mentions that Laura was 15 when she got her teaching certification, but she was 16, as he notes in the image of that cert.

Good Idea, But Misses the Mark
This is a great idea, but it didn't quite make it. Instead of it being a picture book with captions, it is a story of Laura's life with small pictures, some of them cut off or covered in a style that may look picturesque and "scrapbooky," but not particularly illustrating. For example, a page from a family Bible with the names of the family written in beautiful penmanship is partially obscured by a very small photo of the family in question. I would prefer to see the entire Bible page, and the photograph, separately and as large as possible. Some of the portraits are just a couple of inches tall. Individual portraits of Charles and Caroline before their marriage are less than two inches tall, while their marriage photo is just an inch tall and presented at an angle to make it look like it was set on the table, and all are on the same page, partially obscuring their wedding certificate. These images are absolute treasures to Laura Ingalls Wilder fans; why on earth were they not highlighted with the respect that they deserve? Why would a photo book exist if the photos are too small to be seen and/or partially covered by other photos? The text isn't really necessary to those of us who have read all of the major LIW biographies; these pages should have been filled with pictures, with small captions on each one. This book unfortunately leaves me frustrated that these photos and mementos exist, but are not presented in a format where it is easy to see and examine them. I am already longing to see the next attempt at this book, with emphasis on the beautiful photos instead of on Laura's story yet again.

Laura's Album: A Remembrance Scrapbook
This book is just amazing! I had no idea it existed. I've been a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder books since I was a young girl and continue to re-read them as an adult. I have begun to read them to my nieces and just bought each of them one of her books as a Christmas gift. This book has so much incredible, well-detailed, information. It literally brings Laura and her family back to life, if only for the duration of the pages in this book. I devoured it! It is very sad, however, to finish the book because speaking for myself, I just want for it to keep going and going. So alive are the pages of this book that it really made me feel as though I not only knew Laura personally, but that I could actually stop by for a visit to her at Rocky Ridge Farm.

A Museum in Book Form
Laura's Album shows readers actual snapshots from the life of writer, Laura Ingalls Wilder. Apparently Mrs. Wilder found it difficult to throw things away. As a result the reader is treated to pictures of some of the people and objects described in the Little House books. There are pictures of her entire family and pictures of the fiddle that Pa plays so merrily in many of the books. The reader is also given a brief history of the wanderings and lives of Mrs. Wilder and her kinfolk. Much of the focus is on Mrs. Wilder's adult life and what she did as her fame began to spread. This book is a must for fans of the Little House books and anybody who is interested in what rural life was like in the United States in the late 1800s.

Very Interesting
It was very interesting to see pictures of the main characters from the books I have loved since I was a little girl (I'm 65 now).Very surprising to find out that her actual life didn't follow the books completely but very interesting anyway. One thing I found a problem was that the handwritten things in the album wasn't printed good enough - they were very week in colour and hard to actually read.
