Does this work for the Nintendo Switch?

It is an extension cable intended to extend a USB cable by plugging the male connector of a USB cable into the female end of the extension cable and then plugging the male end of the extension cable into the USB port of some device. If your Nintendo has a USB port then this should work. I use it to extend the mouse and keyboard on my PC and it works great...

Does this work with my roku usb stick, because the tv is hot and the roku keeps saying "your device is overheating" extension cable wd help?

This is a standard USB extension cable. It will only add length to an existing cable or plug right into a device that has an appropriate USB connection.

What gage does this have?

I am not sure of the actual gage, but it feels very robust and after reading the description it also has braided wire inside which adds to its durability.
