The Best of George Benson: Guitar Recorded Versions (Chartbuster Series)

I did quite a bit of research from reading different customer reviews. The Best of George Benson is probably one of the better if not best; standard notation music transcriptions on the market today. Another transcription was done by Wolff Marshall for the Hal Leonard Jazz series which is well done. But not as good as this one that I purchased. If you really like George Benson and want to study and learn his style this is the best book to get. This book has 21 transcribed songs from the Benson collection complete with melody and solo transcriptions. No guitarist at the beginner or intermediate level will be disappointed with this book. Buy it and make it part of your music book collection there is plenty of information to learn and take away from this material.

This review is for Hal Leonard's Guitar Recorded Versions (GRV) "The Best of George Benson".First, know that reviewed items may not always match shown items, especially when titles are similar, they simply get mixed up. Now if you go to Carl Hancock's profile, see that he actually reviewed a same titled Piano/Vocal/Guitar version. So understand that while Carl's book doesn't have tabs, the GRV does in fact have tabs. I have it so I know.Typically a P/V/G book doesn't have tabs, while Hal Leonard's GRV books always have tabs, at least I've never seen a GRV book that didn't, and I've seen thousands. Now the "Artist Transcription" series of Hal Leonard's, those are highly accurate and sometimes include tabs; the George Benson one is said to have tabs according to Hal Leonard's website. Then there's Hal Leonard's "Signature Licks" Book/CD series, which as far as I know all have tabs, I have the George Benson one and it has tabs.Further, see that Hal Leonard calls many of their P/V/G books "Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist". See? It seems to say "Guitar Artist" but it really says "Piano/Vocal/Guitar" and "Music Personality". So perhaps our friend Carl read this into the title of his book, only to end up disappointed. I know it fooled me when I first saw it at the music store, but luckily I was only browsing, not buying.So my best advice is to always consult Hal Leonard's website or call their customer service if you're unsure about your Hal Leonard purchase.

GBの曲のギターパートを一曲分丸々コピーというのはかなりしんどい作業なのでこれは重宝しています。採譜の精度は7割くらいだと思うので、まずひと通り譜面通りに弾いてみて違和感がある箇所を耳コピで詰めていくのが良いと思います。TAB譜に関しては、明らかにポジションが違うと思われる部分が結構あるので参考程度と考えた方が良いのでは。
