The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament

I ordered this Word Study Dictionary New Testament used and it did not disappoint. For starters, it was delivered earlier than scheduled by 2 days. I am a Bible lover and I have read it for nearly 50 years. I am blessed to still wonder at the scriptures and what the words mean as they are used and what they meant in the context of the people of that day and the situations of that time. Lots of wonderful surprises await you.You don't have to have a half dozen books open to use this one. I use my NASB bible and the free BibleHub version of the NASB/STRONGS bible online and when I think, "I wonder what that word means" I look at the computer monitor and find the text there. I click on the word and a brief, usually one word definition pops up and a STRONGS Concordance number appears along side. I use the STRONGS Concordance number to flip through the pages of this Word Study Dictionary to that number (listed in order) and am met with an in depth instruction on the meaning of a word in a particular verse. Very streamlined. Very persuasive. You don't need the 15 pound concordance sitting in the middle of your study area and you have a wealth of information at your fingertips. And Greek can be your friend and not your handicap.

The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament is perfect for the lay person who wants to take bible study to the next level. You will need the Complete Word Study:New Testament as a companion so that you can go to the dictionary and look up the Strong's number. I also have the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible NASB. This bible also contains the New Testament dictionary, but the Word Study Dictionary can go into much deeper detail on many Greek words. In fact some words have several pages devoted to them. I use the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible for study and look up the "key" words in the Word Study Dictionary. If I want to know more about the meaning of other "non-key" words then I find their Strong's number in the Complete Word Study:New Testament and look them up in the Word Study Dictionary. If I want to know more about the Greek grammar behind a word then I find the grammatical code in the Word Study:New Testament grammatical notations. These codes represent grammatical construction in the Greek New Testament. These codes are also in the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible. The bottom line is that the Complete Word Study Dictionary:New Testament allows one to "dig deeper" into the New Testament Greek without knowing Greek and will revitalize your bible study.

I bought this book used and expected some signs of wear (even though it said, "Like new" but what I didn't expect was that it arrived with a big sticker saying, "Received Damaged." The book was in better shape than the paper wrapping that it was wrapped in. It was just barely on the book. I was a little disappointed with the way it was wrapped. I would like to have seen it arrive in a box with some kind of protection surrounding it. I haven't had a chance to use the book yet so I can't give any pertinent information regarding the usefulness of it. Just wanted to caution buyers who may be thinking of buying from K.L. I use an Interlinear Greek New Testament-KJV, and I found this book helpful when referring to basic Greek words and it's way of expounding on their meanings. I don't tend to use a concordance however, since I am familiar with basic Greek, but the numbers match with Strong's Concordance. If you are looking to increase your knowledge of basic Greek, and expand into Bible STUDY, not just reading (2 Tim 2:15-KJV), this is a very valuable tool. My only complaint about this Study Guide is that it doesn't have an exhaustive list of cases, tenses, gender and other aspects of Greek grammar. I am not sure if any such book exists, that is why I am learning Greek on the side. But it is, overall, a great tool to help study the Scriptures!

I found the author's insight and general defintions helpful, although not as detailed as I would have hoped in giving examples of secular uses of words which would bring a clearer understanding of what the original readers/hearers would have understood. There are some with references to Classical Greek but just not as many as I would have liked. I was very disapointed with the author's theological prejudices being interwoven with definitions.

Good study tool

聖書ギリシャ語辞書ですが、説明が大変詳しくて、分かりやすいので良い。ストロングナンバーもふってあるので使いやすい。派生語や同義語、反意語も書かれてあります。欲を言えば、聖書の使用箇所だけではなく、聖書ギリシャ語本文も引用してあればもっと良い。語源ももっと詳しく書いてあればさらに良いです。
